Job Description

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Development Engineer II to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. The Development Engineer II will support Accessory Engineering staff and develop new projects per the concept request of the Accessory Product Planning team. The Development Engineer designs and develops components for Yamaha Marine Accessory products. This position will encompass the design, development, documentation, and release of new products to production.

What you'll be doing:

  • Project Management, documentation, and release of new products into production
  • Designing and developing prototypes
  • Mechanical design using Solidworks, FEA analysis and CAE
  • Developing and initiating and managing all phases of various projects
  • Utilize Yamaha accessory development A process, and maintain communication with other business functions
  • Work with suppliers providing necessary design information to develop components/systems as needed
  • Preparing documentation of testing analysis and providing engineering solutions for correcting issues
  • Maintain continued learning through first-hand product exposure, structured learning, and continuous industry exposure

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's in mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited school, or related engineering disp.
  • 3-5 years of related industry and relevant design experience and/or product development
  • Knowledge in the following manufacturing processes preferred: Machining, Casting, & Molded parts (plastic).
  • Solidworks or NX 3D modeling experience required.
  • Desired experience with ANSI Y14.5, GD&T & Tolerance Stack-up.
  • FEA & Surfacing experience is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess developing engineering judgment and analysis.
  • Strong initiative with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize changing work loads
  • Ability and desire to participate on-water testing evaluations on local lakes or possibly the ocean.
  • Hobbies or interests that relate to water / watersports / automotive – mobility industries.
  • Strong oral & written communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to travel to factory, suppliers and various testing/research locations
  • Knowledge and experience in system design and integration within the automobile or marine industry, experience in working on a multidisciplinary team, college club such as Autonomous Vehicle or Formula SAE or similar experience is acceptable
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Working knowledge of Clarizen (project management software) is a plus, but not required
