Staff UI Engineer

As Lightmatter’s lead UI/UX design engineer, you will be responsible for authoring our user-facing stories, helping Lightmatter to sell our groundbreaking photonic systems for computing and networking. You will be responsible for all aspects of the customer-device interaction, working with developers, field application engineers, product managers, and Lightmatter’s marketing and sales teams. You will lead decision-making on the frameworks that we will use in current and future products. The ideal candidate owns the technical content for delivering UI experiences, and also encapsulates Lightmatter’s brand and delivers a consistent experience to the customer. 

Responsibilities 

  • Design and develop the user experience for Lightmatter’s photonic computing appliances
  • Generate workflows for onboarding, configuration, maintenance and management
  • Create storyboards, wireframes, and models for UI/UX flows using tools such as Sketch, Marvel or Figma
  • Work with product, marketing, and sales teams to deliver a consistent and exciting brand experience
  • Evaluate, socialize and drive selection of frameworks for product development and UX tech stacks

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s +8 years of industry experience
  • Experience with API-first approach
  • Ability to manage data and provide insights
  • Familiarity with GUI frameworks such as: React, Angular, QT, Tkl/Tk
  • Familiarity with scriptable CLI environments
  • Experience with UX design research activities
  • Workflow modeling
  • Persona generation
  • Storyboarding
  • Usability analysis

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Able to design and refine UI/UX development process
  • Enterprise systems experience

We offer competitive compensation. The base salary range for this role, inclusive of all US locations, is $170,000-$240,000. Your base salary will be determined based on location, experience, educational background, and market data.
