Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience as a technical sales engineer in a cloud computing environment or equivalent experience in a customer facing role.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with application development technologies, architecting, and developing software or infrastructure for scalable and secure distributed systems.
  • Experience with Relational Databases, NoSQL Databases, and/or Big Data technologies and containers.
  • Experience with aspects of cloud computing (infrastructure, storage, platforms, and data) as well as the cloud market, competitive dynamics, and customer buying behavior.
  • Experience in networking (Linux), software-defined networking, network virtualization/authentication, identity management, open protocols, application acceleration, and load balancing.
  • Experience with State and Local Government and/or Higher Education customers.
  • Ability to define a technical migration road map to the cloud.

You listen and deliver what is most helpful for the customer. You assist fellow sales Googlers by problem-solving key technical issues for our customers. You liaise with the product marketing management and engineering teams to stay on top of industry trends and devise enhancements to Google Cloud products.

As a Customer Engineer, you will work with Technical Sales teams to differentiate and communicate the growth of Google Cloud to our clients. You will help prospective customers and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, explaining technical features, helping customers design architectures, engaging in proof of concepts, and troubleshooting potential roadblocks.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $139,000-$213,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Build customer specific, go-to-market solutions to reduce business cycles and drive customer business as measured through pipeline and business growth.
  • Own the technical relationship with customers, empowering them to drive a successful pilot or proof of concept, support partners drive toward customer acceptance of the technical proposal, leading to an agreement, and work with customers during the migration phase to assure they have all the tools necessary to deliver a successful deployment.
  • Build trusted advisory relationships and make recommendations on integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to successfully implement a complete solution providing best practice advice to customers to optimize Google Cloud effectiveness.
  • Identify business and technical requirements, conduct full technical discovery, and architect client solutions to meet gathered requirements.
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other events as needed.
