Overview

The Council on Foreign Relations seeks a creative and digital-savvy professional to join our video team of award-winning digital storytellers. Reporting to the Director of Video, the Assistant Video Producer will take ownership of the Council’s robust events post-production and publishing workflow and help grow the institution’s video footprint across various social media platforms. The successful candidate will curate and create event clips for social media distribution and collaborate closely across departments to help build a vibrant social media community focused on informing our audiences about pressing global issues. This position is based in CFR’s Washington, DC office on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Take ownership of the full Event post-production lifecycle and serve as the point person for Event-related queries/troubleshooting.
  • Publish full-length events to CFR.org and the Council’s YouTube Channel
  • Coordinate live-stream requests with various internal stakeholders
  • Curate and create clips from on-the-record meetings for distribution on various social media channels, including YouTube, Instagram, X(formerly Twitter), and TikTok.
  • Manage and curate the Council YouTube Channel and Events sections of CFR.org, including providing key video analytics for greater understanding of impact.
  • Produce and edit short video products for social media distribution by collaborating with fellow staff, including writers, editors, and Council experts.
  • Manage daily production schedule, track, and communicate deliverables to the Director, Video, Video Producer, and fellow staff.
  • Work with in-house A/V professionals and external vendors and attend weekly planning meetings.
  • Maintain awareness of social media trends and competitive landscape, including best practices on multiple platforms, SEO, successful engagement campaigns, and emerging social tools.
  • Assist with departmental administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience working in video, digital media, communications, or related field.
  • BA in media production, journalism, communications, or related field with high academic achievement.
  • Experience identifying, shooting, editing, posting, and curating video content on a wide variety of social media platforms.
  • Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and the Creative Cloud suite of software; familiarity with After Effects a plus.
  • Experience managing production schedules and social media calendars.
  • Ability to use initiative for problem-solving and working independently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player with colleagues in New York, Washington, DC, and remote
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed to provide quick turnaround clips of events.
  • Familiarity with web publishing standards and SEO is a plus.

Pay Range

$53,000 to $60,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
