Lonely Planet is seeking a full-time Senior Visual Designer who will work as part of a cross-functional creative team supporting digital, brand, marketing, social media, PR, and partnership teams. This is a highly collaborative, early-stage environment with a close-knit, creative and cross-functional team. They thrive on giving and receiving feedback, swiftly solving complex problems, and developing engaging user experiences, all while addressing the needs of the business.

You will play a vital role in developing consumer-facing creative content for branded experiences across various channels. Your key focus will be to transform our brand within our product design system and assisting in shaping marketing-focused landing pages. This role calls for a passionate and versatile creative who is highly skilled in branding and design thinking, understands user-centered design processes, and is comfortable producing assets for a wide range of uses. The ideal candidate should be highly organized, collaborative, possess an iterative mindset, and have a passion for problem-solving across various functions. They should excel in working with stakeholders from diverse disciplines, including teams of designers, writers, engineers, product and social managers, video editors, and researchers.

What You'll Do:

  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop and execute creative for product, marketing, social, PR, brand, and editorial needs
  • Help shape, maintain, and evolve brand guidelines and design systems
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to tackle design challenges, identify user pain-points and opportunities to drive end goals with stakeholders
  • Work closely with product design team to shape and provide assets for key branded experiences
  • Collaborate with our internal stakeholders to design logos, campaigns, branded assets, social media templates, as well as motion graphics components for video and print collateral for use at events
  • Support the business development and partnerships teams with presentation templates, email assets and promotional materials
  • Collaborate with mid-level designers to help elevate and grow their skill sets
  • Juggle a mix of large and small projects, often with overlapping priority and urgency 
  • Continually adopt new tools and practices as work evolves
  • Present and share work with cross-functional teams that clearly articulates design concepts and thinking

What We're Looking For:

  • Portfolio and/or case studies showcasing brand design and creative strategy across platforms and media such as digital, marketing, social media, PR, and partnership collaborations
  • 5+ years of experience in leading conceptualization and design of large-scale and small-scale projects and campaigns
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Proficiency with industry-leading design tools (Figma, Adobe)
  • Experience producing a wide variety of asset types
  • Bonus points for experience creating motion graphics and SVG animations
  • Experience mentoring or managing teammates

Compensation

  • USA Compensation Range: $85,000-125,000
  • New York City Compensation Range: $106,250-156,250
  • Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
