Job Description:

This position will collaborate with campus partners to establish community, assess needs to inform programming and engagement for Future Scholars, and co-create a vision for the success of the Future Scholars program. Based in theory and best practices, this role is responsible for developing mentoring networks, organizing the mentoring meetings, the skills and strategies workshops, and the collaborative group meetings - all needed for successful graduate student careers, leadership development, and career readiness programs. The program manager is also responsible for administrative and financial functions associated with this project. This role will cultivate a culture of excellence and community care and identify areas of growth. Along with the Associate Dean, this position will work between and among university offices and departments with particular attention to the challenges and needs of the Future Scholars graduate student community. 

Job Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with the Associate Dean, university stakeholders, and departmental faculty and staff to manage, plan, and execute programming for the Future Scholars Program. Create six-week summer bootcamp and year-round events and programming to foster the growth of the Scholars with a strong focus on writing and time management skills, an ethical understanding of scholarly and creative activities, and in career readiness. Develop 360 degree mentoring networks and leadership development programs for each Scholar. Recruit leaders for the various programming elements, implement timelines, and assess all programs and events in terms of effectiveness. Assess gaps in programming and suggest new programming to fill gaps. 60%

Collaborate with Graduate School offices and academic departments on recruitment and retention efforts for Future Scholars including tracking Scholars' academic progress toward degree. Collaborate monthly with the undergraduate Director of the Future Scholars Program and the staff of undergraduate Future Scholars program. Manage the recruiting effort within Slate, including communications and forms. Responsible for timely downloads of information from Slate for the Scholar selection process. Provide all needed information to the selection committee. Notify Departments and applicants of outcome of Selection Committee through Slate, or Infoready, or other electronic means. 15%

Manage all administrative and financial tasks associated with account(s) including filing forms for needed meals, room reservations, etc and reconciling the account(s). Add scholarship/fellowship coding to system of record. 15%

Collaborate with Graduate School colleagues to develop a communication plan and to develop a tracking system to display each Scholar's progress through the year-round events, workshops, and programming. 5%

Other duties as assigned. 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience

Specific Experience: Experience with mentoring and/or familiarity with graduate education.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree with 1 year of experience

Specific Experience: Experience with mentoring and/or familiarity with graduate education.

Additional Requirements:
