Audio DSP and Vehicle Tuning Engineer

In-vehicle audio systems are critically important to the customer’s experience in our vehicles as Ford transitions from a manufacturer of vehicles to a producer of vehicles for the delivery of digital experiences and brand enhancing services. This position will play a key role in that transition and in developing and delivering class leading in-vehicle customer experiences and services.

This role will lead the development and integration of audio DSP systems and tuning strategies and methodologies for future generations of vehicles.

What you'll do...

  • Lead technical specification, design, development, and validation of high-performance automotive audio DSP systems (including signal flow, tuning blocks, tuning tool, etc.) to deliver best-in-class performance and audio system sound quality from concept through production.
  • Design and execute audio tuning strategies for various vehicle platforms and tune vehicles to deliver a superior in-vehicle audio experience.
  • Collaborate with key internal and external cross functional stakeholders including hardware engineers and software developers, to integrate audio DSP solutions seamlessly into vehicle systems.
  • Develop and conduct acoustic measurements and analysis methods to verify the audio system’s performance against design specifications and operational standards.
  • Manage documentation within Ford systems related to DSP development, including system specifications, tuning parameters, and validation results.
  • Be a resource for model engineering teams and in-house technical expert for in-vehicle audio DSP technologies, assisting in troubleshooting, program delivery, and continuous improvement/benchmarking initiatives.
  • Stay up to date on the latest advancements in DSP technologies, automotive audio trends, and acoustic measurement and vehicle tuning techniques

You'll have…

  • Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics or related field 
  • 5+ years of experience in development and implementation of automotive audio DSP systems and tuning of vehicle audio systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in audio signal processing, acoustics, psychoacoustics, and automotive audio system integration.
  • 5+ years of experience DSP programming, acoustic simulation, and acoustic analysis software and with acoustic measurement and system calibration tools and methodologies

  • Master’s Degree Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Acoustics or related field 
  • Passion for automotive audio systems, particularly DSP and vehicle acoustics
  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to train and support model engineering teams
