Brownfield Ag News creates and delivers original content across multiple media platforms. With nearly 600 affiliate radio stations, Brownfield is the largest and one of the oldest agricultural news radio networks in the country. Stations in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and the Delta region carry Brownfield’s agricultural news, markets, weather, commentary, and feature radio programming.

The Anchor, Reporter II is one of a dozen Brownfield farm broadcasters who are on the ground at state, national, and sometimes international events throughout the year, providing timely and relevant news to its audience. They utilize several social media platforms and digital channels to engage with viewers and listeners and stay up to date with agricultural news.

This person can work remotely from any location in the state of Nebraska. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Creating, writing, and producing related content for Brownfield’s radio network and various multi-media platforms.
  • Covering events, interviewing industry influencers, anchoring radio and video programs and contributing to all Brownfield product lines.
  • Producing relevant, quality content under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cultivating and maintaining news sources and professional relationships in the industry.
  • Periodic client and/or affiliate projects to include anchoring podcasts, doing live interviews, moderating panel discussions, and creating native content as assigned.
  • This is a purely news reporting role, with no rewriting of press releases or aggregation. 

Job Specifications/Requirements:

  • 2+ years of work experience in agricultural communications/journalism or equivalent. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or closely related field.
  • Equivalent work experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
  • A strong ‘nose for news’, excellent interviewing skills, grammar, reporting and writing skills. 
  • The ability to communicate professionally and effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to travel by car and airplane for overnight trips.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work both independently and in a team environment. 
  • A strong understanding of agriculture is necessary.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Audition or similar audio recording software, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams.
  • This position is based in a remote office studio in Nebraska within a region the anchor/reporter will be responsible for covering.
