Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in managing diverse HR functions with a specific focus on overseeing the complete onboarding and offboarding process. From pre-boarding communications to the exit interview process, this role is integral to fostering a positive work environment, ensuring a smooth career progression for our employees. The ideal candidate possesses excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of HR best practices, and is committed to contributing to a positive work environment. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Onboarding & Offboarding: Facilitate seamless onboarding and offboarding experiences for employees. Take full ownership of the onboarding process, including pre-boarding communications with new hires, welcome box process organization and supervision. Responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws relating to I-9 forms, E-Verify, and other onboarding documents. 
  • HR Administration: Manage administrative tasks such as filing, mailing, handling payroll questions, maintaining personnel records and HR related documentation. 
  • Benefits & Leave Management: Assist in the administration and oversight of employee benefit programs, responding to inquiries and coordinating with benefit broker as needed. Collaborate with the Director of HR in facilitating leave management process, providing necessary information and documentation to employees, and ensuring compliance with company policy and legal requirements. 
  • Employee Relations: Provide support for disciplinary and grievance issues, under the guidance of the Director of HR. 
  • Employee Engagement: Contribute to engagement initiatives, organize events, and collect feedback for continuous improvement. 
  • Legal Compliance: Ensure the organization is in compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by staying updated on current legislation and advising management. 
  • Performance Management: Aid in the performance review process, offering support to managers and handling administrative responsibilities, including People Manager Program. 
  • Industry Awareness: Maintain current knowledge of HR best practices and labor laws to ensure organizational compliance. 
  • Other: Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal abilities and customer service skills. 
  • In-depth understanding of HR best practices and employment laws. 
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems preferred. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources in a similar role will be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • Experience with Canadian and global HR practice, including knowledge of Canadian Labor laws a plus. 
  • Proven experience with I-9 process and E-verify. 
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus but not required.
