Aegon's Center of Excellence for Brand Experience & Communications, situated within the Corporate Center, focuses on cultivating and sustaining Aegon's reputation and distinctive brand across internal and external stakeholders to align with the company's strategic objectives. The Communications team collaborates closely with the Brand Experience team ensuring a consistent tone of voice and brand identity across our communications activities and channels.

Purpose of the role

The Communications manager contributes to the development and implementation of the corporate internal and external communication strategies in alignment with Aegon Holding objectives. The role focuses on corporate messaging and engagement, mainly focused on the Holding’s employees and the Global Leadership Team (Top 80) and ensures that an consistent and impactful narrative is shared across all internal and external channels.

The Communications Manager is a trusted advisor to senior management, works with multiple stakeholders and takes responsibility for communication initiatives from helping to craft the strategic plan to ensuring timely and effective tactical delivery.

Position

The role is pivotal in steering the company´s strategy narrative towards Aegon Holding´s internal and external stakeholders. It demands a professional who pairs a strategic view with a can do mentality. Experience in programs about (cultural) transformation, strategy communication to internal and external stakeholders and employee engagement are essential be successful in this role.

Key responsibilities include

  • Contributing to the development and execution internal communication strategies in alignment with Aegon Holding objectives, to drive engagement and support change
  • Maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including HR, Sr leaders and leaders of strategic (transformation) programs.
  • Share an consistent and impactful narrative across all internal channels
  • Lead internal communication initiatives targeting holding staff and Global Leadership Team
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues within the department (e.g. content and platform managers and colleagues in the brand team) or outside the department (e.g. IR, Corporate Strategy, HR and communication colleagues in the international business units) to create focused plans and effective key messages.

Your profile:

  • Academic degree in communications or related field such as journalism, business, social studies
  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Corporate / Internal Communications, preferably within the financial services industry.
  • Fluent in English (native or near native)
  • Positive and pro-active teamplayer, analytical and results driven
  • Ability to work under pressure while keeping a sense of humor
  • Excellent skills to organize with attention to detail
  • Self- starter, personally motivated resourceful and comfortable working in a fast paced work environment
