Responsibilities: 

Portfolio Management

  • Ensure the profitability of the Portfolio by LOB and Segment through disciplined underwriting, and Whole-Account and Multiline underwriting.
  • Assign, review and monitor Portfolio Review action items.
  • Ensure team is ready for UW Audit process and actions are assigned, reviewed and monitored. 
  • Management and monitoring reports with forecasts and results against Plan, including updating of relevant financial systems.

Financial Objectives

  • With Head of P&C and Division Heads, produces short-term and long-term strategic Plan GWP/NWP for LOB and Segment.
  • Produces plan for achieving LOB Plan numbers.
  • Achieve Plan numbers for their assigned Segment book of business.
  • Ensures all UWs perform consistent and accurate booking and reporting of Plan numbers month-to-month.

Product Development

  • Understand the needs of different Client Segments and Distribution channels to continue to develop Chubb’s product offerings. 
  • Working with Legal & Compliance and the Regulator for product filing approvals. 
  • Business Case development for and implementation of products in relevant systems.

Underwriting

  • Risk analysis of indigineous and multinational business to determine the acceptability of risks according to established underwriting standards and guidelines.
  • Support all LOB underwriters in arriving at acceptance/rejection decisions on risks beyond their authority.
  • To arrange the underwriting referral to regional colleagues for the business which falls within the COG guideline.
  • Review and revise terms and conditions, and policy wording within Chubb guidelines and local regulation.
  • Preparation for Delegation of Authority, where appropriate
  • Managing risk engineering needs in accordance with UW guidelines.

Distribution

  • Work with Distribution teams to plan and achieve our common annual and rolling 5-year goals by sharing P&C products and underwriting appetite.
  • Ensure we are seeing business within our appetite from our partners by reviewing pipeline.
  • Accountable for ensuring correct information is keyed into systems in order to manage pipeline.
  • Visit producers and promote Chubb coverage, products and services.
  • Develop high-potential producer relationships with focused/dedicated service proposition.

Claims

  • Work closely with the Claims team to increase understanding of clients and portfolios, successfully handle complex cases, and determine future state for automation of claims.

Operations & Finance

  • Work closely with Operations and Finance to ensure that we deliver the following in a timely manner: quotes, cover notes, policies, invoices, booking of premium.

Legal & Compliance

  • Work closely with Legal and Compliance on wording and to ensure that we are compliant at all times. Manage all requirements from Thailand’s Office of Insurance Commissioner (OIC) related to product filings, reports, claims, compliance, etc.

Performance and Talent Management

  • Provide feedback to Head of P&C and Division Managers on performance of Underwriters, and where appropriate UAs and NUC UWs.
  • Provide training to UWs, UAs and NUC UWs, etc.
  • Develop own skills and experience with Leadership and Management training courses, certifications, etc.
  • Train, coach, develop and evaluate underwriting.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years working experience in the logistics, transport or freight forwarding business or Minimum 10 years working experience in insurance business.
  • Underwriting / marketing proficiency in commercial product lines gained through at least two of the following areas: underwriting / marketing, sales/ marketing, product management, and claims and /or risk assessment.
  • Superior communications and interpersonal skills to be capable of dealing with producers, customers and all levels of the organization in English.
  • Experience in people management and staff development.
  • Capability to work independently and willingness to work within a high-performance team.
  • Good in Excel, Power Point, underwriting rating tools, and/or other relevant software applications
  • Ability to adjust to change driven by business needs.
  • Self-motivated, result oriented, ability to work under pressure.
