Introduction:

Support the execution and ongoing development of a key new regulation: margin for the non-centrally cleared derivatives. The regulation stems from a set of G20 financial reforms and team ensure Barclays remains compliant with the global regulatory requirements. 

Primary aspect of the role is regulatory governance of the ISDA SIMM model. This involves quarterly risk based and realised pnl based backtesting of the model, owning up recalibration, bench marking and other ISDA governance exercised for the bank. Supporting IVU for annual validation and ISDA participation in ISDA Governance forum, representing the bank. 

Realised pnl backtesting requires detailed understanding of all trade types like ccy FX swaps, IR swaps, equity swaps etc and its functioning including cash flows, settlements etc. Risk based requires detailed understanding of greeks and var calculation.

Additionally, support operations team in daily accounts margining and signoff. This will require detailed understanding of risk based Standardised Initial Margin Model for margin calculations and delta vega sensitivities for all types of OTC derivatives. This is time sensitive and high importance task which determines daily funding amount to be raised by treasury and has to happen on time accurately

What will you be doing?

o Performing margin analysis for counterparties who in scope of the uncleared swap margin (UCSM) and engage with various internal desks and external clients and regulatory bodies. 

o Monitoring and oversight of counterparties subject to margin for non-centrally cleared derivatives portfolios

o Providing oversight to Operations team who support the daily IM calls, disputes to ensure timely resolutions

o Performing regulatory model monitoring tasks & driving the strategic IT deliverables

o Take up model owner/ developer role for the bank and ensure accurate implementation of the model and along with participation in regulatory forums from a member perspective.

o This role will have direct reports so people management skills are essential. 

What we’re looking for:

o Graduate or MBA from top tier Engineering/Business school.

o 1 to 3 years of experience at a funding desk, risk management or similar function in Banking/Finance industry.

o Highly analytical and numerate with exceptional problem solving abilities and Comprehensive knowledge of funding, liquidity and associated risks.

o Understanding of EMIR, Dodd-Frank regulatory reforms including margin for non-centrally derivatives

o Understanding of OTC derivatives pricing, risk including value-at-risk, historical simulation and VCV (variance covariance) with deep knowledge and understanding of first and second order risk sensitivities.

o Understanding of OTC bilateral trade lifecycle & front-to-back flows

o Well organised with good time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritise tasks. Ability to multi-task and prioritise accordingly in a highly pressurised environment.

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to clearly articulate complicated issues to management and other impacted areas and ensure timely resolution of issues and breaches.

o Able to work effectively as part of a large team and willing to take on responsibility.

o Technical Knowledge – Database development and management. Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, Macros), MS Office skills and desirable skills like Qlikview. Tableau, SQL, VBA, R, Python.

o Superior attention to detail. 

o Displays confidence and professionalism.

o High self-motivation.

o Eagerness to take initiative and promote process improvements.

Skills that will help you in the role:

o Prior experience of working on risk based models. 

o Understanding of the complexities of funding with an overlay of global markets and economics.

o An FRM or CFA certification.

o Understanding of collateral management function

o Coding skills in Python or R
