Description

Humana's Corporate Strategy team is a small, high-performing group that works closely with Humana's senior leadership to chart the course for the company's future. In Strategy, you will identify and analyze exciting new growth opportunities and work with business leaders to prioritize strategic investments and execute strategic transformation. The Strategy team has weekly meetings with Humana’s CEO and management team and frequently presents strategy updates to the Board of Directors. Day to day activities of the Engagement leader will include overseeing a team of analysts to execute of LOB and Enterprise level strategy projects and work streams to create executive level deliverables and recommendations for Humana’s senior leaders and Board.

Responsibilities

The Corporate Strategy Lead plays a critical role in the successful delivery of projects, owning responsibility for one or more simultaneously and managing workstreams of junior colleagues. Leads are required to manage the scope of work, understand the needs of stakeholders within Corporate Strategy and elsewhere in Humana, and ensure high-quality results that bring out the best thinking of the team. 

Relocation to Louisville, KY or Washington, DC is required for this role on the Corporate Strategy team. The Strategy Planning team follows a hybrid model, working together in the office 2-3 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Helping lead cross-functional corporate strategy engagements executed in partnership with senior leadership and business development teams
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and key external partners
  • Working with Humana and Corporate Strategy leadership to establish and communicate the corporate strategy
  • Developing and refining key team operating systems and managing individual team and project members

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6 + years of finance, accounting, investment banking, consulting, corporate development and/or corporate strategy experience, and/or equivalent
  • 2+ years project leadership experience
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills
  • Experience building and evaluating financial models
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications
  • Strong work ethic, detail orientation and passion for excellence
  • Ability to identify, structure and solve business problems
  • Passion for people development and demonstrated leadership success
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to interact with senior leadership internally and externally
  • Relocation to Louisville is required for this role as the Corporate Development team is located at our headquarters in Louisville, KY.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a top-tier graduate business of public health program
  • 4 + years of finance, accounting, investment banking, consulting, corporate development and/or corporate strategy experience, and/or equivalent
  • Preference for strategy consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy/M&A experience (direct healthcare experience is preferred but not required)
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Strong executive presence
  • Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Commitment to innovative thought, strategic thinking, and making a difference
  • Ability to work independently on a team, and with remote teammates
