Description

You as a Transport and Logistics Lead will be part of Hitachi Energy High Voltage business based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. You will be leading logistics specialists to deliver accurate and timely logistics activities. Ensuring execution in accordance with the Company’s Logistics instructions and procedures.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Optimizing Hitachi transports, considering cost, service (lead time requirements) and other planning parameters.
  • Interacting with Stakeholders for optimum load selection and communicate any potential issues affecting pickup and/or delivery.
  • Maintaining communication with transport service providers to place transport orders, receive confirmation, monitor important milestones.
  • Understanding different planning techniques including the functionality of transport management systems and load planning tools.
  • Managing procedures for the team and their performance to ensure good customer service level.
  • Local transport market knowledge including equipment, port and airport operations as well as relevant restrictions and regulations.
  • Carrier operating model knowledge.
  • Knowing how to work with freight forwarders and transport providers.
  • Supporting Accounts Payable for freight payment reconciliation.
  • Managing a team including 3rd party providers to ensure strong country engagement and performance, delivering a consistent and best in class trade management program.
  • Managing, sourcing, selecting, training and retaining quality staff.
  • Managing, monitoring and executing the use of SAP.
  • Maintaining key performance metrics for the Hitachi organization and 3rd party providers of transport trade and logistics related services.
  • Reviewing team performance on a monthly basis to drive performance in focus areas.
  • Proactively addressing compliance concerns to support the reliable and timely movement of Hitachi products and materials.
  • Collaborating closely with Hitachi’s Country and Regional Trade Compliance Manager and legal teams to ensure trade and compliance related issues are identified and communicated across the business.
  • Researching customs and regulatory requirements for all new origins and destinations including but not limited to import licenses and registrations, valuation, royalties, documentation, import restrictions, and labelling requirements.
  • Proactively identifying, monitoring, and communicating new or potential legislation that could have legal, operational, or financial impact to Hitachi Energy.
  • Coordinating and executing internal audits of Hitachi, including all subsidiaries and affiliates, to ensure compliance with local customs rules and regulations and internal Hitachi directives.
  • Managing operational execution of tactical trade management related functions.
  • Communicating and coordinating with product group and business unit managers/stakeholders regarding the logistics global activities, realization of potential duty saving programs and the regulatory/duty implications of specific supply chain scenarios.

Your Background:

  • A bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Advanced knowledge of Customs regulations, including valuation, classification, and special trade programs.
  • Minimum 5-10 years' work experience in customs and trade affairs.
  • Must have experience of leading a team.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and applying government regulations related to trade compliance.
  • Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple time sensitive tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Advanced desktop computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook required.
  • Must be able to work independently with a high degree of motivation and initiative.
  • Requires leadership qualities and drive to work and advise the business. Should be recognized as a technical expert.
  • Must have strong analytical skills.
  • Must be able to work effectively with others and build relationships.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills, as the position frequently interacts with internal and external customers, customs brokers, legal counsel, trade groups and government agencies.
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written Arabic and English language is required
