Job Description:

As a Assistant General Manager – Engineering, working for Terex India MP Cranes team, the team member will be responsible for the New Product Development, Continuous product improvement and Cost reductions on the Cranes product line and will be collaborating with Product management, Operations, Sourcing/Purchasing and Aftermarket team for the product and process development and product sustenance by managing his team.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Must be able to conceive and provide practical product design applications for the cranes products using technical principles.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership by working with stakeholders to firm up system/subsystem level requirement and specifications.
  • Develop concepts, design, and solutions by coordinating with Product management team, Sales and Marketing and feasibility study of engineering projects.
  • Conducts technical reviews/evaluations of major systems/sub systems before engineering release.
  • Conducts technical evaluations of competitive products/Competitive Benchmarking.
  • Following and updating designs through build, test and validation processes.
  • Produce full manufacturing specification package including Engineering BOMs.
  • Effectively manage engineering change process.
  • Collaborating with operations, purchasing and the supply base to meet product and design cost targets.
  • Evaluates, defines, and resolves design and manufacturing problems in a timely manner.
  • Travels to Customer sites (International and domestic) to understand and resolve engineering issues, or to field-trial locations to evaluate a new product.
  • Ensure current and new products meet standards and performance levels specified for safety, function and reliability, for different markets.
  • Providing a supportive work environment for the team.
  • Coaching and mentoring team members.
  • Planning and managing projects/programs.
  • Monitor team metrics and objectives ensuring meeting of goals.
  • Document all phases of design and development.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an accredited Mechanical Engineering curriculum.
  • 20+ years of relevant work experience in Construction Equipment Industry /Heavy Engineering Equipment design. Experience on cranes products is preferred.
  • High level of proficiency in project management and Creo & PLM tools and Engineering Design Processes
  • Experience working with the hydraulic systems, structures and various mechanical components / sub-systems.
  • Must have a good mechanical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts.
  • Strong analytical skills and technical skills.
  • Problem resolution / trouble shooting.
  • Keen in learning and enhancing technical skills for future needs of product line.
  • Able to assess workload and commit to realistic timelines.
  • Experience in using Creo simulate/Ansys is an added advantage.
  • Must be able to manage multiple team
