The World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) is looking for an experienced and ambitious Programme Manager to independently monitor and support a diversified portfolio of projects in the Asia region in accordance with WDF’s vision, strategy, and procedures. About the organization

In line with its mission to reach and support vulnerable communities and low-income populations, World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) has invested substantially over the past two decades in partnerships with health authorities and stakeholders in India and other countries in the Asia region given the high prevalence of diabetes and other NCDs and the need to improve access to care. As part of WDF’s project portfolio in the region, several large-scale partnerships are being implemented and developed to accelerate health reform goals and commitments to Universal Health Coverage.

The position

As a Programme Manager in the Asia Team, you will support the coordination and monitoring of an expanding portfolio of WDF partnerships. You will engage and contribute to various tasks and activities to consolidate and expand WDF’s presence with a focus on project monitoring and stakeholder relations. The workstation is based in Bangalore, India. As a Programme Manager you will drive tasks and responsibilities as overall outlined by the WDF Senior Programme Manager, based in Denmark and you will be responsible for the following main tasks.

Daily monitoring of large WDF-funded project partnerships and programmes in the Asia region. The monitoring will follow WDF’s standard operating procedures and include field visits, stakeholder meetings, etc. as deemed relevant.

In collaboration with the WDF Senior Programme Manager prepare/arrange, coordinate and document stakeholder meetings and partner workshops.

Contribute to identification and sharing of relevant learnings for cross-fertilization between partnership components. WDF has a strong learning track, and a key deliverable is to facilitate cross-learning and best-practice sharing.

Prepare reports, advocacy and communication materials, and other formats of content, related to WDF-funded partnerships in the countries of responsibility, and pursue opportunities for promoting WDF. You will also be engaged with organizing stakeholder visits from WDF and from WDF’s donors.

Qualifications

  • The preferred candidate holds an academic degree at master’s level within a field of relevance (e.g. public health/international health, political science/social science, development studies or related) and a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience. The candidate would be expected to possess excellent writing and communication skills and be able to synthesize, analyze and communicate complex and comprehensive data.
  • The preferred candidate has a track record of employment with e.g. national health authorities or public health institutions, NGO’s working within health, or international development agencies. Demonstrated project management and monitoring experience is essential. Experience within the diabetes and related NCD agenda and a network within this area is an asset. The candidate must have full professional proficiency in English. Additional language proficiency in Hindi or other relevant language in the region is considered an asset.
  • To succeed in the position, you are a team player, creative thinker, proactive and solution-oriented person. You have an analytical mindset, work in a self-driven and structured manner. You possess a high level of flexibility, and you have a high degree of cultural understanding, working in a multicultural organization with multicultural partners. Your direct manager is based in Denmark, so to thrive in the position you have experience with a hybrid working environment. Furthermore, we expect you to understand how effective and respectful partnerships work and to be able to develop and maintain working relationships within disperse, diverse and dynamic contexts.
