Meaningful Work From Day One

This contract role is responsible for the overall productivity and effectiveness of the regional sales team in East Japan. It leads sales forecasting, planning, budgeting, and KPI setting within the regional sales team; analyzes sales performance; monitors and evaluates execution of trade plans; and deepens the organization’s understanding of results, performance drivers, and program effectiveness.

What You Can Expect

  • Lead sales planning & budgeting processes within the regional team, including sales forecasting, discount budget allocation, product allocation, KPI setting and field sales management, in line with the company’s business strategy & guidelines. 
  • Support the Regional Sales Manager, East Japan in developing strategies, targets, and budgets for the regional sales team. 
  • Budget Management & Plan Execution. Implement and manage commercial policies as established and agreed by headquarters and work with the regional sales team to allocate discount budgets by customer/channel and track spending & commitments. 
  • Maintain visibility off trade promotion calendars by customer by week.
  • Develop a deeper 360-degree understanding of each customer’s business, strategy, and goals. Analyze and sense check sales forecasts and plans. 
  • Analyze sales results to deliver insight on sales performance drivers and promotion effectiveness. 
  • Continuously evaluate and improve sales processes for better effectiveness or efficiency. Champion the Brown-Forman Commercial Way within the regional sales team.
  • Collaborate closely within the sales planning & operations team, trade marketing, finance and other cross-functional partners. Develop reports and communicate transparently and effectively with stakeholders regarding issues & opportunities, plans, performance, and learning. 

What You Bring to the Table

  • 2+ years of sales management experience in sales planning, key account management, or trade marketing in FMCG
  • Understanding of market & channel structure, trade margins, and trade terms (discounts & rebates) in the FMCG industry
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with a high level of Excel/Google Sheets capabilities for complex data management and analysis
  • Communication skills (influencing, listening, presenting, writing); able to explain sales and analytical results in a clear, concise, and visually appealing manner
  • Proven ability to identify problems/opportunities and plan, prioritize, organize and advance multiple tasks to completion by specific deadlines
  • Personal honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels and manage conflict constructively
  • Collaborative team player with strong conflict management skills
  • Adaptable, flexible and resilient 

What Makes You Unique

  • Alcohol industry experience with knowledge of trade margins, rebates and commercial processes, particularly in the premium and super-premium imported spirits industry (wholesale and retail).
  • Experience working for a foreign company, especially a U.S. or European company
  • English language proficiency
