The Distribution Strategy Division acts a bridge between the needs of our external users (e.g. guests, franchisees, third-party partners) and internal teams (e.g. Revenue Management, Loyalty, Marketing, Digital) by providing products and solutions to help drive revenue, capture bookings, create a seamless experience, and continually look for ways to improve and enhance those products.

The Product Manager will work on developing the product strategy and priority of product enhancements for on-property technology platforms for our franchisees. The ideal candidate is passionate about building products and can break down complex problems into simple steps that accelerate product development. In this role, the Product Manager will bridge the gap between the business and technical world. They will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design products to cover competitive gaps that maximize individual hotel revenue opportunities. This will include overseeing end-to-end product development from ideation to launch and will work with cross-functional teams including IT to deliver product enhancements in a timely manner. This position also manages the information sharing between product and knowledge management, assisting with the development, delivery, and dissemination of training materials to promote new features and enhancements to internal departments.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of product strategy based on deep understanding of how the business and hotels work, incorporating customer insights, markets, competition, and current system capabilities.
  • Drive new product development through the writing of sound business requirements based on capabilities which will define the functionality to create “best fit” products for optimal on-property experience.
  • Own and execute product/project life cycle for various enhancements from ideation to launch; including requirements gathering, cross-functional alignment, competitive research, scrum participation, user testing, launch, and adoption.
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact while considering functional and resource dependencies.
  • Manage product lifecycles to continually evaluate product performance and key customer insights and ensure new product needs are identified far enough in advance to address needs before product obsolescence.
  • Communicate product information including product roadmap, specifications, value proposition, sales tools, training tools, and competitive information to stakeholders.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for all products launched and managed.
  • Set dates and track updates to project and program schedules; provide regular resource usage updates and status reports; assure adherence to schedules (as needed); report risks, issues, action items, and decisions.
  • Provide status updates to the Program Manager for regular reporting cycles.

Your Experience, Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS), or equivalent
  • Deep knowledge (10+ years) of hotel property management and or inventory and rates management systems preferably through on-property operations, and/or
  • 3+ years of product management experience in an agile environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

Your Team

This is an individual contributor role that will report to the Director, Integrated Marketing and On Property Technology. You will have 2 direct peer teammate(s) and collaborate with cross-functional departments on a regular basis.

Your Work Location

As our Product Manager, Hotel Technology, you will be based in our beautiful, state-of-the-art technology hub in Scottsdale, AZ. In October 2021, Choice opened a newly constructed world-class technology center. Remote candidates will also be considered.

Right now, our associates in Scottsdale, AZ are working in a hybrid environment, up to 4 days per week in the office and virtual from your home office the remaining days.
