Category Specialist

The role of the Category Specialist is to develop, plan and implement the procurement and logistics strategy for an assigned category or group of categories, with a focus on optimizing costs, quality, delivery, and reliability. You will ensure execution in accordance with instructions and procedures from the company, the Procurement & Logistics function, and supply base management.

Your responsibilities

  • Supports the development and implementation of regional/global sourcing strategies in close alignment with the regional/global category leader.
  • Negotiates agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists and terms and conditions.
  • Runs benchmark studies for the Category team and for specific sourcing initiatives.
  • Creates local contract amendments to frame agreements on behalf of a country and updates/maintains frame contracts.
  • Supports regional/global sourcing initiatives within a defined set of categories, working closely with key stakeholders to implement regional category strategies.
  • Onboards new suppliers in close collaboration with the respective local buyer, runs regular supplier evaluations, and provides supplier reports to Businesses and Category Managers.
  • Runs regional sourcing initiatives under a defined threshold.
  • Initiates Purchase Orders (PO) in the system, according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures, and confirms the delivery with suppliers, monitors, and tracks supplier performance to PO requirements.
  • Fosters communication internally, externally, and between businesses and supports the implementation of procurement activities and initiatives in the region/country through this clear communication.

Your background

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in industrial Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain or related field.
  • 5 years of experience with direct Materials Cooper & Insulation.
  • Previous experience with Direct Procurement.
  • Knowledge of conducting RFQs, eAuctions.
  • Proficiency in SAP Ariba, AMSAP, PowerBI, Microsoft Excel and PPT.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams and deliver complex strategic initiatives, in a truly global, fluid, interactive environment.
  • Negotiation, change management and stakeholder management.
  • Availability to travel.
  • Advanced English level.
