JOB TITLE: Director, Inventory Dynamics & Logistical Analytics 

SALARY RANGE: $125,000.00 - $134,000.00 

HAY POINTS: 677 

DEPT/DIV: Procurement, Material Management & Distribution SUPERVISOR: Sr. Director, Inventory Dynamics & Logistical Analytics

LOCATION: Various locations 

HOURS OF WORK: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire. 

SUMMARY

The Director is responsible for helping to develop and implement strategies focused on improving the efficiencies and effectiveness of the MTA supply chain. The Director will also review, provide, and oversee inventory analytics used to support various user groups to meet their supply chain requirements in all agencies. Tasked to develop and implement reports for materials management support for distribution to various MTA users and support groups. Review analytical tools needed in all areas of Materials Management of inventory and oversee staff in all agencies, identifying opportunities to create common standardized reports that are applicable to all agencies. Additional responsibilities include provisions of analytical tools and oversight on budgetary impact of forecast projections and inventory material receipts for all departments. Will be required to liaison with various user groups, providing consistent analytical support, as well as training, when required. Oversees a team that supports this function. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with the Senior Director, Inventory Dynamics and Logistical Analysis to translate agencies’ operational maintenance forecasted requirements data for inventory needs into tools that assist stakeholders in developing more efficient forecasting strategies.
  • Supports the Senior Director to ensure agencies’ operational requirements correctly speak to the quantity, frequency, and levels of storage at individual locations, as well as each agency in general, subject to budgetary and location size constraints to maintain an efficient and cost-effective supply chain.
  • Provide analysis, tools and insight to monitor and control MTA’s $600+M material inventory budget.
  • Manage data validation on all inventory management applications.
  • Create and implement new strategies aimed at increasing effectiveness and efficiencies throughout the MTA’s supply chain network.
  • Implement innovative reporting and analytic methods to allow all stakeholders in the MTA supply chain to make better decisions, aimed towards inventory reduction and more efficient material availability flow for All Agencies.
  • Assist in stock catalog consolidation to be utilized by every MTA agency.
  • Provide analysis, tools and support in the areas of inventory accountability and excess obsolete analysis for all MTA agencies.
  • Develop analytical tools aimed at increasing effectiveness and efficiencies throughout the MTA’s distribution network.
  • Supports the Senior Director by developing innovative reporting to allow all stakeholders in the MTA supply chain to make better decisions, aimed towards inventory reduction and more efficient material availability flow.
  • Select, develop, and motivate personnel within the department. Provide career development for subordinates. Provide prompt and effective coaching and counseling. Provide input regarding the discipline/termination of employees when necessary. Review staff performance. Creates a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables all employees to develop and contribute to their full potential. Create an environment that fosters creativity, learning, development, and opportunity for all employees. Provide ongoing support and dedication to developing internal talent pool.
  • Provide analysis, tools and oversight on inventory budgets, as well budgetary impact of forecast projections and inventory material receipts for all departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

  • Working knowledge of Warehousing Operations / Business and Supply Chain Systems.
  • Familiarity with visualization tools, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
  • Excellent Microsoft suite skills, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with key internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete short- and long-term projects effectively and as efficiently as possible.
  • Demonstrated analytical capabilities and quantitative skills.
  • Demonstrate independent initiative, leadership and management skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Public Policy or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree; and
  • Minimum 6 years related experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial and/or leadership role in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body preferred.

PREFERRED 

  • An advanced degree in a related field.
  • Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures.
  • Experience with the following systems:
  • PeopleSoft
  • Commodity Management Systems (CMS)
  • Talon / Materials Management System (MMS)
  • Planner Initiated Expediting System (PIES)
  • Logical Inventory Management System (LIMS)
  • Maximo
