Librarians will help teachers by utilizing the PBL and SLA curriculum and framework. Librarians will work with all grade level teams to deploy school and grade level aligned curriculum.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Librarians will provide support for and supplement all teachers using their library material to enhance materials from the PBL and SLA curriculum.
  • Librarian training and orientation day is scheduled for June 11, 2024. All staff prep/plan is scheduled for June 11, 2024. 
  • Librarians who apply for these summer job opportunities must be willing to collaborate with summer peers, design high interest, hands-on, project-based lessons for students, as well as provide differentiated reading and math activities that support the needs of individual students. 
  • Librarians must be willing to be outside during the day and help organize extended enrichment activities based on the program theme.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Serving outgoing students in grades Kinder -5th grade general education and ESL/ELL students.
  • The Summer Learning Adventure is NOT based on a remediation model, but a high interest, hands-on science summer camp opportunity providing staff more time to teach as well as extending the school year for those students who need more time to be successful.
  • The program uses PBL and SLA curriculum.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE: The minimum requirements for this job are as follows: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Current New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in the area to be taught.
  • Course work in education, classroom management, educational psychology or related field.
  • Library endorsement

All Librarians must have correct license/endorsement/credential on file with APS HR prior to working this program
