Summary The IT Network Engineer functions as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for architecting, designing, installation, configuring and maintaining physical and virtual network devices, network protocols, troubleshooting, and best practices in support of company’s business processing requirements. Designs, develops, document, communicate network architecture plans that enforce the company’s IT Infrastructure policies. This position must reside in the Atlanta Metro area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Functions as the SME for all network related activities.
  • Designs, installs, configures, and maintains network equipment including Cisco/Meraki equipment, security and troubleshooting tools. Experience with Meraki WAP.
  • Architects, develops and build of data center and Azure networks and devices.
  • Experience in physical, virtual and cloud networking.
  • Experience with Routers, Switches, Firewalls, Wireshark and tools used to troubleshoot.
  • Performs configuration, installations and firmware upgrades to hardware and routing protocols; maintains in accordance with established information technology policies and procedures.
  • Familiar with change management best practices and proactive monitoring.
  • Experience with Azure, availability zones, Azure network security groups, VNet peering.
  • Expert troubleshooter and experience with vLAN’s, subnetting, routers, switches, VPN, OSPF and BGP protocol.
  • Develops, enforces, and promotes standard operating procedures.
  • Experience with MS Servers, AD, Azure AD, Data Centers and Hyper V is preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, build and monitor devices is preferred.
  • Ensures devices and configs recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups.
  • Ownership, troubleshooting and vendor relationship of providers for VOIP, SIP, PRI, T1, MPLS and T1.
  • Resolves complex procedural, operational, and technical problems.
  • Provides recommendations regarding network hardware, overall architecture, security and budgeting.
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative and communicates project status, activities, and achievements with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Addresses and troubleshoots issues, sees them through to resolution, and creates RCAs.
  • Nurtures a stable IT infrastructure and network that is always available and proactive.
  • Interact with system admins and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed.
  • Expected to thoroughly document the systems and infrastructure.
  • Available to provide support outside normal business hours to ensure 24/7 availability of services and infrastructure.
  • Responds to after-hours emergencies and leads the mitigation and resolution processes
  • Maintains the company’s adherence to technology requirements for security & privacy.
  • Researches, develops, and implements new technologies and best practices.
  • Mentors team members and educates users.
  • Performs other duties as outlined in individual objectives.
  • Complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.

Education and/or Experience

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Technical Degree or related Certification(s) preferred.
  • Experience: 4-6 years’ experience as a Network Engineer may be substituted for a degree or certification
  • Skills: Knowledge of networking and a sound understanding of the principles of IT Infrastructure and client/server applications.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
