To achieve this goal, the Cloud Hardware Manufacturing Engineering (CHME) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware.

We are looking for seasoned engineers with a strong passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

  • Drive and execute hardware and firmware production product changes for the Microsoft cloud
  • Assess product changes from an engineering and business perspective and work with subject matter experts to align on problems and solutions. 
  • Lead cross functional (engineering and supply chain) change projects to plan, execute and deliver on product changes end to end. 
  • Drive adherence to product changes through key milestones, shiproom and the change implementation forums 
  • Support activities at all stages of NPI hardware development. Remain engaged from the establishing of the server concept, through piloting server in Data Center and ramping server to mass production volumes. 
  • Holds accountability for team and portions of the work to delivery best in class supply architecture solutions  
  • Contributes to efforts to identify technical risks. Provides input into team across across NPI efforts 
  • Has a basic understanding of the product technical requirements, milestones, deliverables and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective project infrastructure. 
  • Leverage experience to solve problems, fill gaps and achieve objectives through a cross functional team. 
  • Effectively communicate and escalate risks and dependencies while ensuring timely decisions are being made. 
  • Contribute to risk management efforts in new product introduction, scenario planning and help mitigate of risks; recovery from risks. 
  • Collaborates with senior team members to contribute to end game planning 
  • Ensure programs meet requirements for financial impact planning & supply base strategy  
  • Communicate to and regularly interact with project team members, highlighting risks across functional teams and providing recommendations to support product level decisions 
  • Operate effectively in ambiguity. Apply process where it creates value, and design process where it’s needed. Recognize the situations where each approach is most appropriate. 
  • Contribute to cross functional alignment: generating clarity, tracking towards release milestones and overall readiness for all new Data Center infrastructure deployments. 
  • Use program management tools and communication methods to ensure common understanding of program plan of record and changes to stakeholders 
  • 4+ years of experience driving technical projects from requirements through launch, including managing project schedules, removing roadblocks and keeping processes running smoothly.  
  • Experience providing communications and program updates at a management level.  
  • Experience in program management fundamentals, including presentation skills and written communication;  
  • Ability to partner closely with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and implement features, infrastructure, processes, and workflows.  
  • Create and operationalize processes to transform the effectiveness of the organization with respect to meeting business goals. Coach, enable and grow Program Managers within the team and our partners.  
  • Align key stakeholders, and manage projects through milestones to completion on schedule.  
  • Communicate and present program plans and status with management.  
  • Understanding and passion for program management and product release methodologies. 
  • Monitor and measure engineering impact and performance results.  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in in business, engineering or related experience  
  • Problem solving, debugging and communication skills  
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects that are technical in nature  
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, assess opportunities and develop principles to prioritize multiple strategic and tactical options, and drive issues to closure with a high bar on quality  
  • Proven ability to work and collaborate with a wide range of business stakeholders to achieve results and impact  
  • Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences 
  • Lean six sigma experience preferred 
  • Experience with IT Service Management, ITIL, Change Management, Release Management, Product Life Cycle preferred
