The Role:

As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you will join the team of hands-on, passionate and seasoned SQA professionals developing innovative consumer-centric product solutions. In this role, you will:

  • Create test plans and test cases
  • Automate tests using internal and open source tools & infrastructure
  • Review user interfaces for conformity, functionality and performance
  • Review product user interface for conformity to design guidelines
  • Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through resolution
  • Interpret and report testing results, and be a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of the development process
  • Work with Software Development Engineers to understand the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented. Understand performance impacts over the product.

Key job responsibilities

  • Sr. QAE will be the technical leader defining the Performance KPI roadmap and product test strategy deliverables
  • Partner with developers, performance tool teams on the investigations for any degradation or gaps between the reported performance measurements and established goals
  • Responsible for leveraging existing Performance KPI tests and identify quality opportunities to redesign or implement new Performance KPIs for the new device programs/features across Alexa devices
  • Define Performance KPI test strategy and manage test execution cadence for new device launch programs
  • Mentoring L4/L5 QA team members and be the subject matter expert for knowledge sharing and engineering practices
  • Make appropriate test trade-offs for Performance KPI test updates with updated level of instrumentation, Macro vs. Micro KPI reporting and define dashboards for reporting
  • Work across team boundaries to evolve best practices, test requirements, influence decisions made by QA organizations, and help the Alexa devices product QA organization to deliver the highest quality

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
  • 4+ years of delivering test frameworks, test tools, leading the QA projects and initiatives experience
  • Knowledge of QA methodology and tools, with demonstrated experience in an QAE role
  • Experience in automation testing
  • Experience in manual testing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of UI Automation (preferably on mobile platforms) experience
  • Knowledge of at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java, Objective C

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $106,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
