Work Location: LSU AgCenter Communications, LSU Campus, Knapp Hall, Baton Rouge, LA.
Position Description: The LSU AgCenter is seeking two talented, organized and deadline-driven graphic designers to work with the creative design team, news team, information technology team and subject-matter specialists/faculty. The ideal candidates will design and produce educational, digital and marketing materials, event displays and signage. These include but are not limited to publications (printed and online), electronic newsletters, curriculums, illustrations and other visuals, plus graphic design elements and electronic documents as needed for news stories, videos, social media and the web. Other materials include large displays with collateral materials for educational events, trade shows and other exhibit opportunities for the LSU AgCenter.
The production of creative and educational materials involves understanding the LSU AgCenter’s brand while designing within the latest versions of software for page layout, illustration, digital design and photo enhancing. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint) and digital asset management is necessary. Knowledge of offset and digital printing techniques is necessary, and an understanding of ADA compliance is ideal. Experience with budgeting and coordinating with print vendors is desired, and editing skills and knowledge of Associated Press style is a plus.
The primary mission of the LSU AgCenter is to improve the lives of residents of Louisiana through an educational process that uses research-based information. The successful candidates will creatively transform a client's (research, teaching or extension faculty) information into a highly polished finished product. The designer's job is to achieve the client's intended results within the AgCenter’s brand while maintaining the client's timetable and remaining within the client's budget. In doing so, the designer meets the objectives and enhances the image of the client, the Communications unit and the LSU AgCenter.

Qualification Requirements: A bachelor's degree in graphic design, fine arts or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. A master's degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or university is preferred. This is a nontenured faculty position that requires a master's degree for promotion. If the suitable candidate has only a bachelor's degree, he or she will need to actively pursue a master's degree in a job-related discipline to be promoted. In addition, five or more years of graphic design experience is preferred.
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. Possibility of educational leave and tuition exemption for coursework towards a master’s or Ph.D. degree at campuses of the LSU System.
