Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical leadership of recording performance characterization and component level testing of developmental HAMR head and media designs.
  • Collaborates with HAMR head design and process development teams to align component parametric test and characterization capabilities and performance to meet the design and developmental requirements.
  • Technical lead to define and fulfil test and characterization needs of HAMR head developmental evaluations, in conjunction with internal test development and characterization teams.
  • Lead qualification and deployment of new HAMR test hardware, software and upgrades aligned with the test roadmap and the support of internal HAMR test/tester development teams.
  • Technical leader for advanced HAMR test lab/line, equipment and activities to meet test requirements of HAMR head developmental program. Ensure delivery of test data with high quality/integrity and adequate tester calibration, controls and monitors.
  • Communicate effectively within development teams, and with internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or preferably Ph.D.) in engineering or applied physics with research experience in optical science and engineering.
  • At least 10+ years of experience in testing of optical devices/components and the recording performance of magnetic/HAMR heads.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.

PREFERRED:

  • Knowledge of statistical methods and experience in data analysis with tools such as Matlab, JMP.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python desirable

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated leadership of technical teams, initiatives and activities
  • Mentoring engineers and developing technical team capability.
  • Skilled in fostering team-work and collaboration
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
