The Role: Executive Director, Energy Transition.

The Energy Transition Consulting team works with clients across the traditional and new energy sectors to adapt, manage the risks and seize the opportunities of the energy transition. We specialize in providing strategic advice, analysis and solutions to companies making the transition from traditional energy systems to low-carbon alternatives.

We help our clients assess the impact of low-carbon scenarios on their operations and the implications of emissions targets, and develop comprehensive energy transition strategies that align with their business objectives while taking into account the regulatory environment, market trends and sustainability goals.

We support our clients in the integration and development of renewable and low-carbon energy sources by providing strategic recommendations, analysis and insights on renewable energy, energy storage, cleantech innovation and supply chains, low-carbon fuels including hydrogen and renewable natural gas, and techno-economic analysis of CCUS opportunities and carbon markets.

This role will contribute to our practice by setting a clear vision for the region and motivating the team to achieve it, while bringing broad industry expertise, client relationships and a deep understanding of the consulting process. The executive director will be expected to lead multidisciplinary project teams across the organization, with the potential to be involved in highly visible initiatives. This role includes responsibility for the direction, quality, and delivery of the practice’s regional agenda while building team capabilities and representing the practice in external events to increase our visibility and credibility. 

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of consultants and experts with wide-ranging backgrounds in energy and the energy transition. The varied and changing nature of our projects leads to development of a diverse set of skills, and exposure to different industries and clients, including senior industry leaders and policy makers.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a pivotal role in the Energy Transition Middle East consulting practice, taking on key leadership, strategic, and operational responsibilities.
  • Provide strong leadership to guide the team in achieving the practice's goals.
  • Lead the expansion of the ET practice in ME, including the recruitment of highly qualified talent
  • Encourage and support innovative approaches to consulting services.
  • Coordinate with various elements of the S&P Global research organization to ensure continued thought leadership on key issues facing the industry.
  • Provide thought leadership and position the practice as a thought leader in the industry.
  • Identify growth opportunities and develop strategies for revenue growth. Lead business development and revenue generation in the region in partnership with other senior practice members and the sales and subscription services teams.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships and communications with key clients. Clients typically include corporates, investors, utilities, project developers, and governments.
  • Oversee the development of client proposals and participate in sales presentations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to meet project demands and ensure the quality of consulting services and deliverables.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competition, and market dynamics.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Ten to fifteen years of experience in industry, consulting, or finance environments
  • Experience in areas related to the energy sector, preferably in roles associated to operations, energy efficiency, low-carbon energy, or sustainable practices.
  • Exposure to various aspects of the energy value chain, including production, processing or distribution and consumption.
  • Experience in management consulting will be a significant plus.
  • Significant commercial consulting experience in energy, energy transition or renewables and in the Middle East.
  • Extensive professional network in the energy industry
  • Recognized in the energy industry and active participant of industry events and conferences.
  • Track-record building high-performing consulting teams and growing a consulting practice
