Job Description

Dewberry is seeking a full-time Technical Editor to join our Parsippany, NJ office. This role involves editing and reviewing environmental technical reports and related documents for clarity, formatting, and occasionally content; preparing documents for final production (electronic or hard copy); overseeing production schedules; coordinating with professional staff to clarify meaning, format, and style of documents in a manner that meets our corporate standards and those of the clients we support. Additionally, this role will support coordination, preparation, and production of proposals and qualifications packages. Assist in the drafting, editing and proofing of written content for project descriptions, resumes and project award submittals in a manner that meets our corporate standards. The successful candidate will be organized, collaborative and have a passion for quality.

Responsibilities

  • Edit report text and citations to the highest standards of accuracy and consistency, and in accordance with Dewberry’s style guide
  • Adopt and implement custom, project-specific style requirements
  • Summarize technical and scientific documents in plain language, collaborating with authors to resolve content problems.
  • Compile and maintain accurate acronyms and abbreviations
  • Format and publish documents from Word and InDesign, and in accordance with Dewberry’s style guide
  • Interface with project teams to determine report and proposal requirements, review drafts, and provide technical support.
  • Assist in the development of clear, concise, and well-organized proposals in a timely manner, meeting internal and external deadlines
  • Manage competing demands from multiple deadlines. Applicants must exhibit excellent written and oral communication as well as demonstrate good customer service skills.
  • Adopt and implement custom, project-specific style requirements

Required Skills & Required Experience

  • BS or BA in applicable field with a minimum of 6 years’ experience
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word (expert), Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat
  • Previous experience working in a professional services or consulting firm, or in the environmental or engineering industry, preferred
  • Applicants must exhibit excellent written and oral communication as well as demonstrate good customer service skills.
  • Applicants must have outstanding organizational and multitasking skills to ensure compliance with strict deadlines.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) strongly preferred
  • Ability to work overtime when needed
  • Professionalism when dealing with executives, clients, and project teams including the ability to work on deadline
