Job Description

The role of the Government Relation Officer is to process and carry out all legal matters relating to visas, permits, licenses, and registration of employees, liaising with government departments and agencies in Saudi Arabia.

  • Pay bills online in HSBC portal, including customs duties, VAT, electricity, phone, and company license fees
  • Register name at chamber of commerce for signing stamped documents on behalf of the company (Manage online or go in person if needed for attestation of company documents, including licenses, contracts, work agreements, certificates, and other documents requested by customers, suppliers and government agencies)
  • Maintain login ID and password for government online portals
  • Renew and maintain government registrations and licenses to keep them current and avoid expiration. Including commercial registration (CR), municipality license, civil defense, SAGIA license, and others
  • Assist sales team with registrations in customer vendor systems, providing attested documents on request (i.e., ARAMCO)
  • Visit customers if needed to deliver or pick-up samples or tender documents
  • Manage the company office in Saudi Arabia including rent payments, utilities payments, cleaning, repairs
  • Meet with government representatives if they request inspection of ASTC office
  • Obtain visas in Saudi Arabia for visitors and employees of the company
  • Assist with labor office, including monthly salary information, Saudization certificate, GOSI certificate, other documents
  • Assist with monthly VAT returns, working with Albemarle finance team to submit the calculations into the government portal
  • Submit applications for import permits for products as needed
  • Assist with logistics and customs clearance, working with our clearance agent, BDP, to provide attested documents and make payments of customs duties
  • Manage legal entity and Saudization activities

Skills, Knowledge& Experience required for the role:

  • Associate degree in business or finance preferred
  • Saudi national in good standing and with proper documentation
  • Principles and practices of Saudi Arabia public administration, processes, policies, and procedures, including applicable laws, codes, and regulations
  • Principles and practices of budget development and administration, basic accounting, and public finance
  • Computer applications and government portals related to the work
  • Terms and acronyms commonly used in the assigned responsibilities
  • Principles and practices of contract negotiation and administration
  • Principles and techniques of making effective written and oral presentations
  • Records management principles and practices
  • Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals, at all levels of responsibility, in person and over the telephone
  • Communicating effectively in oral and written forms in both Arabic and English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation
  • Recognizing and understanding issues of a sensitive nature; analyzing situations, identifying appropriate alternatives, and recognizing consequences of proposed action and non-action; negotiating mutually satisfactory solutions to issues and implementing appropriate responses and/or recommendations
  • Organizing and prioritizing work to meet schedules and timelines
  • Working independently and exercising good judgment and confidentiality
  • Making effective presentations in front of individuals and groups
  • Developing and maintaining cooperative and productive working relationships with local media, legislators, lobbyists, and others involved in government roles
  • Dealing successfully with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone
