Who we are looking for

The SSGA Japan Investment Operations – Reporting team is responsible for monthly and quarterly reports for financial institutions, pension funds and investment trust funds. To cover a wide range of customers, the team delivers a high volume of reports, around 300 on monthly basis and 100 on a quarterly basis within a limited timeframe for deadline. You are expected to have a cooperative spirit to support team members as a team player and contribute to the achievement of team goals, as well as strong communication skills and a solid professional mindset to execute tasks efficiently. You will report to the Reporting team manager in Japan. You will interact with various key stakeholders including Client facing teams, Investment teams, Performance Analysis team, Vendors, Overseas Operation teams, external fund auditor, etc. This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Create Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Ad Hoc reports that covers retails, financial institute group and pension, public clients, and offshore funds.
  • Create statutory reports and other reports (Basel III related, etc).
  • Work with relevant teams for onboarding new reports and apply changes as necessary to the existing report format which include preparation of report template as well as tools to extract data and calculate performance returns, etc.
  • Work with relevant teams to ensure the reports are delivered to clients within timeline.
  • Review and ensure data accuracy, work with related teams to solve data issues.
  • Monitor report delivery, make sure of report timeliness and accuracy.
  • Tactical automation to improve work efficiency, process improvement to pursue risk excellence.
  • Oversee processes that have been outsourced to the outsourcing service providers.
  • Conduct research and analysis on regulatory change that may impact to the report format and update the report format as necessary.
  • Extensive liaison with the business to provide accurate and timely daily operational support and follow up on queries.
  • Follow a Risk excellence framework by undertaking regular reviews and improvement of operational procedures and controls process.
  • Involved in changes, projects and other initiatives related to primary responsibilities.

Experience, Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or other advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of working experiences in financial industry, especially in client service, fund operations, client reporting in asset management industry.
  • Advanced application skills such as Excel and Excel VBA, Access
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communications and organizational skills with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to collaborate and drive execution within the organization and build strong professional relationships.
  • Self-motivated professional with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities and schedules to meet deadline while maintaining attention to detail for data integrity and error correction.
  • Demonstrate ability to evolve reporting processes, recommend and implement changes and deliver continuous improvement.
  • Knowledgeable of processes, risks, controls, and controls design
  • Familiarity with the asset management industry and relevant regulations / association rules
  • Native Japanese and English language skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of application such as T-star GX, Bloomberg, Factset and other vendor systems will be an advantage.
