Senior Associate, Corporate/M&A/Private Equity/Real Estate

The team

The Norton Rose Fulbright Luxembourg office, which was set up in June 2017, consists of a dynamic and enthusiastic team working closely with our more than 50 offices globally and offers employees and associates the opportunity to play an integral part in consolidating the office’s presence within the Luxembourg market.

Our team is made up of experienced and multilingual lawyers with extensive knowledge of the Luxembourg legal and regulatory environment and covers the firm’s core practices, including corporate/M&A, investment funds, banking and finance, real estate and cross-border tax planning. Availability, quality and responsiveness are the hallmarks of our team.

The Role

In connection with our continued expansion, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Associate Corporate/M&A Lawyer in Luxembourg.

The successful candidate will:

  • take an active role in providing tailor-made corporate advice and innovative solutions to major corporates, listed companies, private equity-, real estate- and hedge funds, UHNWI and financial institutions ;
  • be involved in strategic corporate, M&A, private equity and real estate transactions predominantly in a cross-border context involving multiple jurisdictions ;
  • be asked to take a leading role in transactions (running due diligence, drafting and assisting in negotiations of SPA / JVA, assisting with signing and closing) ; 
  • be working on transactional mandates involving the set-up, conversion (domestically and internationally) and liquidation of Luxembourg vehicles as well as restructurings, intra-group (re)financings and corporate house-keeping assignments ;
  • provide in-house and external trainings and be involved in legal publications ;
  • train and mentor junior associates and trainees ; and
  • participate in business development activities.

Skills and Experience Required

  • University degree in business law (first state exam in Germany, Master 2 from Belgium, Luxembourg or France), ideally completed by a post-graduate degree in business law, business administration or finance (Ecole de commerce, LLM, MBA or similar) ;
  • Registration as attorney with the Luxembourg bar or able to exercise under foreign home title ;
  • At least 6 years of working experience at a leading law firm in Luxembourg with transactional focus ;
  • Fluency in English and French with German language proficiency being an asset ;
  • Excellent communication skills, team player, self-starter approach ;
  • Proactive, entrepreneurially spirited and keen to work in a close-knit team and an international environment ;
  • Interest in working on a wide variety of matters involving several jurisdictions and departments ; and
  • Strong business acumen and willingness to contribute to firm-wide business development initiatives.
