Lindenwood University is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach a full range of courses in the graphic design department within the School of Arts, Media and Communication for the 2017-2018 academic year. The successful candidate will teach three studios courses per semester, advise, and mentor in the Graphic Design Program.
An ideal candidate would possess thorough knowledge in one or more of following areas: advertising art direction, brand strategy, UI/UX design, information visualization, and environmental/experiential design. Candidate should also be fluent in historical and contemporary design methodology, theory, and practice; demonstrate a broad knowledge of technology and emerging media related to design. Candidate should have the ability to teach all levels of graphic design from theory to practice, utilizing research methodologies, strategy-based problem solving, and a user-centered design approach. Applicant should possess effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Candidate should be student centered and willing to take a leadership role in the growth and expansion of the program. Additional responsibilities will focus on active participation in departmental affairs; program reviews, curriculum development and recruitment of students, course assessment, and service on University committees. In addition, the candidate will provide engagement outside of the classroom with student activities and learning practices in the University and larger community. The successful candidate should be able and willing to provide support for a program that is pursuing NASAD accreditation.
