Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of engineering experience, including experience leading engineering organizations.
  • Experience with technical innovation within cross-functional engineering environments.
  • Experience designing and building scale systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience building and leading teams focused on infrastructure, platforms and infrastructure as a service, as well as experience mentoring and developing senior engineers and managers.
  • Experience in promoting product excellence and collaboration.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML and the latest advancements in large language models.
  • Knowledge of large-scale data domains (e.g., data APIs and feeds, data ingestion, processing, ETL, management, lifecycle data rollouts at scale, governance, compliance, tools, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate and influence across organizational boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills and solid presentation skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

SCP brings together structured knowledge, semi structured knowledge, content from the web, partner feeds, images, videos and more, all organized into a better, standardized, distributed content platform.

As the Content Acquisition and Summarization Platform (CASP) Engineering Director, you will lead the organization responsible for empowering Search teams to acquire content for search vertical experiences and applications, building services, infrastructure and platform capabilities in this area.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $271,000-$399,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop, evolve the strategic mission and technical direction, and lead the newly-created Content Acquisition and Summarization Platform (CASP) organization. Lead engineering for content/data acquisition infrastructure, owning critical areas of Search data infrastructure including ingestion, ETL, web extraction underlying Google's Knowledge Graph.
  • Lead engineering for the next-generation AI-powered Search CASP, responsible for running models to extract, understand, organize, enrich content and knowledge to build Search vertical applications.
  • Partner closely with Search vertical experiences teams (e.g., movies, sports, events, etc.) to co-develop Search product experiences. Define and evolve the charter of the area with a balanced portfolio of foundational investments, exploratory bets and business priorities.
  • Grow future leaders, helping staff develop technically, ensuring career growth, excellence, collaboration, customer centricity, inclusion, trust and psychological safety are built into the team's culture.
