Compensation includes a base salary of $156,200.00 - $260,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

As the Strategic Planning Director - Enterprise Data, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing strategic data initiatives within Cox Automotive. Your responsibilities will span from translating high-level strategic goals into actionable plans, overseeing the successful delivery of project outcomes, and managing strategic 3rd party partnerships. Here are the key aspects of this role:

Strategic Execution: You’ll lead the execution of strategic data projects, ensuring alignment with Cox Automotive’s overall enterprise strategy. This involves defining, creating, implementing, and driving initiatives that enhance data capabilities across the organization.

Partnerships Management: You’ll manage strategic partnerships with third-party entities, fostering collaboration and leveraging external expertise to achieve project goals.

Tactical Implementation: Your ability to bridge strategy and execution will be crucial. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that strategic initiatives translate into tangible results and project deliverables.

Stakeholder Engagement: Frequent interactions with stakeholders at all levels—both within the business unit and corporate—will be essential. Effective communication and relationship-building are key to success.

Data Solutions Strategy: Collaborating closely with the Senior Director, Data Strategy, you’ll contribute to the evolution of Cox Automotive’s data solutions strategy and roadmap. This includes staying informed about industry trends, identifying opportunities, and articulating the vision for data-driven excellence.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

This role is pivotal in driving the successful execution of projects aligned with the company’s long-term goals.

You’ll blend strategic thinking with practical project management to ensure optimal outcomes.

Responsibilities include:

Alignment with Company Mission:

Translate Strategy: Align projects with the company’s mission, vision, and strategic objectives,

with the ability to convey and inspire alignment with cross-functional team members.

Strategic Decision-Making: Evaluate project flow and decisions to ensure alignment with

strategic goals.

Business Requirements and Outcome Optimization:

Requirements Gathering: Meet with sponsors and stakeholders to understand project needs.

Optimal Outcomes: Ensure project objectives lead to measurable results.

Collaboration and Communication:

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal and external

stakeholders.

Effective Communication: Communicate project progress, outcomes, and strategic impact to

relevant parties.

This role is pivotal in driving Cox Automotive’s enterprise data strategies by establishing and nurturing strategic 3rd party partnerships.

Product Knowledge and Opportunity Identification:

Maintain a deep understanding of Cox Automotive’s product portfolio.

Continuously identify partnership opportunities that align with our business objectives.

Strategic Partnership Acquisition:

Hunt for potential partners, prioritize them based on strategic fit, and secure valuable alliances.

Develop compelling business cases for new partner opportunities and gain buy-in from stakeholders.

Relationship Management:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with partners.

Maximize value for Cox Auto while safeguarding our core business interests.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Oversee all aspects of partnership relationships.

Collaborate with various teams, including business, product, supply chain, legal, marketing, accounts receivable, operations, and client services.

Innovation and Data Partnerships:

Create and execute a collaborative innovation model.

Develop data-related partnerships with third parties, leveraging their expertise to influence our strategy and explore new business opportunities.

Dependency and Value Alignment:

Increase partners’ reliance on Cox Automotive by aligning our value proposition with their business needs.

Integrate services to enhance partner satisfaction and loyalty.

Escalation Point and Market Insights:

Act as an escalation point for decision-makers and stakeholders at partner organizations.

Provide valuable market feedback to CAI leadership, including insights on competitive offerings and prospect requirements.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in business strategy, consulting, process implementation, or related functions.
  • A proven ability to translate strategic vision into actionable plans.
  • 6+ years of leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to guide teams and achieve results.
  • Evidence of successful leadership in a global matrix environment, collaborating across functions, business units, and diverse geographies.
  • A track record of mastery in execution and project management.
  • Proficiency in scoping requirements for delivering products and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated advanced strategic and analytical skills.
  • Proven success in developing and implementing impactful, practical business/data strategies.
  • Previous experience leading teams of senior professionals in data-related fields.
  • Advanced management skills to lead individuals directly and indirectly in a matrixed organization.
  • A strong ability to influence decision-makers across functions and business units.
  • A history of successfully establishing buy-in for innovative ideas.
  • An academic degree (BA or BS) is required.
  • An advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) is preferred.
  • Background in business, finance, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related fields is advantageous.
