Here in Aotearoa we are looking for a NZ Technical Leader (Senior Principal/Principal Geotechnical Engineer) to join us in Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland, Pōneke | Wellington or Ōtautahi | Christchurch. As a key member of our Ground Engineering leadership team at Jacobs in New Zealand and wider ANZ region, you will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of the group. You will monitor and respond to changes in the industry, have strong client connections, and an ability to navigate complex negotiations and outward-focused discussions.

As a Technical Leader, this role offers a unique opportunity to work across a diverse range of industries including transport, power, buildings, renewables, and environmental projects.

In this role, we are seeking a Technical Leader who can enhance existing and develop proposed client connections. You will mentor colleagues, review designs for Ground Engineering, manage bid processes, win and deliver work, and coach and develop team members to promote knowledge sharing and develop technical excellence in Geotechnical Engineering.

This role will involve:

With extensive experience in various areas of geotechnical investigation, analysis, and design, and specialisation in areas such as tunnelling, slope risk assessment, dam engineering, earthworks, foundation design, earthquake engineering and seismic design, retention systems, material parameter development, consolidation, and settlement, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the ground engineering industry in New Zealand and the wider ANZ region with this Technical Leader role. #transportNZ #LI-CK1 #APMETranspor

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Qualifications in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Post Graduate qualifications in a Civil Engineering or related field (preferred).
  • Chartered Engineering Professional in New Zealand.
  • Proven experience leading and managing geotechnical investigations, analysis, and design.
  • Minimum 15 years’ professional experience with at least five years of industry recognition in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Deep understanding of the latest industry trends and advancements in geotechnical engineering.
  • Sound understanding of seismic design and NZ earthquake engineering standards.
  • Strong technical writing and reporting skills with a history of producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to provide technical inputs for project works and tender bids.
  • Extensive experience in relevant Geotechnical software including: Rocscience Slide, Geoslope, Wallap, Plaxis 2D and 3D, and Ensoft L – Pile and Group.
