Java & Linux Support Engineer

This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description:

As a Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing support for critical and complex issues related to Java applications, Linux operating systems, and Oracle WebLogic Server. The role involves troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving issues to ensure the stability and optimal performance of the supported systems. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and infrastructure teams, to enhance the overall reliability and efficiency of the applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Java Support:

  • Analyze and resolve complex issues in Java applications.
  • Debug and troubleshoot Java code for performance and functionality issues.
  • Collaborate with development teams to provide insights into recurring issues and potential improvements.

Linux Support:

  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems.
  • Perform system monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Implement security best practices and ensure system stability.

WebLogic/Apache and Tomcat Support:

  • Provide expertise in managing and troubleshooting Oracle WebLogic Server environments.
  • Perform installations, configurations, and optimizations of WebLogic Server.
  • Monitor and tune WebLogic for optimal performance.

Incident Management:

  • Respond promptly to Level 4 incidents and service requests.
  • Collaborate with other support levels to ensure timely and effective incident resolution.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and resolutions for knowledge sharing.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to understand the application architecture and deployment environments.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and discussions to improve system reliability.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Propose and implement proactive measures to prevent recurring issues.

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 3-5 yrs years of experience
  • Proven experience in providing deep level technical support for Java applications, Linux systems, and Oracle WebLogic Server.
  • In-depth knowledge of Java programming language and debugging tools.
  • Strong command of Linux operating systems and system administration.
  • Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Oracle WebLogic Server.
  • Familiarity with web technologies, protocols, and network troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
