Practice Specialist - Travel, Logistics & Infrastructure

Who You'll Work With

You will be based in our Beijing, Shanghai or Shenzhen office as part of McKinsey's Travel, Logistics and Infrastructure practice.

McKinsey's Travel, Logistics and Infrastructure practice (TLI) develops and implements solutions for clients across all industry subsectors. You will work with TLI global experts and local practitioners to serve clients. Our mission is to optimize the flow of people, goods and associated services around the world. The focus areas of the practice include: travel (aviation, hospitality, passenger rail etc.), logistics (post, parcel, and express, logistics-3PL, freight forwarding, trucking, and distributors, shipping, freight rail etc.) and infrastructure (airport, port, rail infra etc.). We additionally heavily invest in developing state-of-the-art knowledge to drive our clients’ success.

What You'll Do

You will operate as part of an engagement team, typically consisting of a team of 2-5 consultants led by an engagement manager. 

In this role, you will lead a workstream of a client engagement where you will create holistic and sustainable impact. You will apply a broad range of creative problem-solving skills, combining technical and analytical excellence to help solve your piece of the overall client puzzle. You'll synthesize conclusions into recommendations and work directly with senior client leaders to implement change. You will problem solve on some of the most challenging and complex business problems and play a central role in developing knowledge that will serve clients and enhance team capabilities.

You’ll have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. You will receive exceptional training as well as frequent coaching and mentoring from colleagues on their teams. 

There is flexibility to hire at the Junior Practice Specialist or Practice Specialist level, depending on candidate experience. This is a partner electable track at McKinsey.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of industry experience and strong passion in travel, logistics and infrastructure
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with experience exercising mature judgment
  • Entrepreneurial, impact driven, client backed mindset and business judgement with an understanding of how the firm operates
  • Proven ability to work effectively both in teams and independently
  • Flexibility to travel
