General Summary:

As part of Sony Pictures Television International Production’s worldwide network of television production companies, SPT Production Latin America & US Hispanic develops, produces and coproduces scripted and non-scripted, Spanish language programming for cable, broadcast, and SVOD clients in the US Hispanic and Latin American markets. With 3 offices serving the region (Miami, Bogota, Mexico City), SPT Latin America offers a variety of flexible content and business models to its clients.

SPT is looking for an SVP & MD, Production Latin America/USH. This role will report directly to the EVP, Distribution and Networks for Sony Pictures Television, Latin America.

Responsibilities:

  • Has overall responsibility to develop, execute and grow the SPT Latin America and USH Television Production business.
  • Responsible for leading and directly managing SPT Latin America Production’s offices, around 25+ staff who develop, produce and coproduce Spanish language programming for the Latin America/USH market.Oversees all series development projects, deal development, sales, content and technical operations.
  • Primary point of contact for Sony Pictures corporate resources for SPT Latin America Production – Finance, Business Affairs, Legal, Security, IT, Research, Marketing.
  • Works collaboratively with the SPT Distribution team to maximize exploitation of library and new programming.
  • Provides Latin American and US Hispanic regional market expertise and advises management on relevance and appropriateness of programming needs and other content issues given regional factors such as consumer preferences, legal framework, and competitive landscape.
  • Maintains relationships with key regional talent, networks, and production partners.
  • Has direct P&L responsibility, including creating and managing approved annual budget and 3-year plan.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive scripted production experience.
  • Seasoned business manager with leadership and financial skills to create and execute strategic vision
  • Sufficient business, creative, financial, and technical background in TV production to understand broadcaster requirements. Understands deal negotiations, managing creative talent and how to enhance production value.
  • Strong business skills to manage P&L (business plans and budgets).
  • Strong bilingual, written and oral communication skills, in Spanish and English.
  • Understanding and appreciation for Latin American culture and television programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across Distribution, Finance, Marketing, Research and Public Relations departments.
  • Strong relationships with the Free TV, Pan-Regional Cable Networks, and SVOD players across Latin America and the US Hispanic market.
  • Proven ability to sell original programming concepts to programming services.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of TV production experience, minimum of 8 years of experience managing large teams in different offices.
  • Experience working with multinational company.
  • Frequent travel is required (Miami, Latin America region, LA, London, etc.)

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
