Marketing Managers can have a tactical or strategic role that is short to medium/longer term. Their role can be global, segment specific (vertical), or regional across a rational group of segments (horizontal). In the first case, Marketing Managers design segment strategy, ensure its deployment, are accountable for implementation and impact. They also partner with other functions to manage multifunctional implementations of a bouquet of complex segment strategies in the region under their responsibility.

Responsibilities / Duties

If segment-specific (vertical), Marketing Managers have responsibilities over a single or a small rational group of segments . They lead a regional segment MMT and are accountable for multifunctional coordination and collaboration with all internal functions essential to ensure that segment(s) under their responsibility make the most profitable, sustainable use of Dow's current and foreseeable tangible & intangible capabilities. They have responsibilities like: effectively activating relevant Dow digital capabilities, generating market intelligence, developing insights, defining project opportunities essential to growth, market plans from strategy to activation, campaign success, and more importantly, are accountable for overall results. Marketing Managers also work with the MMT to align capabilities with Operations through product marketing, manage a balanced innovation pipeline with TS&D and R&D, manage a lead pipeline to generate Sales opportunities in support of current and new offering commercialization, design and execute marketing communications plans with Business Communications, define appropriate channel strategies & channel partner selection criteria, and network with value chain critical players. All this while making most efficient & effective use of relevant business & corporate resources. If more local responsibilities over larger group of segments (horizontal), they have similar responsibilities but focus on localizing strategies developed over a larger regional or global scope, for segment managed by Sr Marketing Managers while being accountable for the cross functional implementation, local lead & opportunity management, value capture across the region or segments in scope, and exploration of emerging industries. All Marketing Managers may participate in leadership teams and value center teams at a global or regional level.

Marketing Managers are responsible for one or a small number of rationally compatible segments in a given geography. They are typically accountable to lead efforts, acquire market intelligence, develop medium and long term strategies, annual implementation plans, localization of globally-developed strategies, and maintain lead and innovation pipelines.
