Job Description and Duties

TELEWORK IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE, HOWEVER, STAFF MAY BE REQUIRED TO REPORT TO THEIR ASSIGNED HEADQUARTERS AS BUSINESS NEEDS ARISE.

This is a hybrid position with up to 3 days of telework per week. The reporting office is at 800 Capitol Mall in Sacramento. This location has excellent access to public transit.

The Disability Insurance Branch (DIB) of the Employment Development Department ensures eligible Californians can get paid wage replacement benefits when they are unable to work due to a non-work-related illness, injury, or pregnancy. The Central Office Division (COD) of DIB oversees the administrative tasks involved in this program. The Training Section of COD guides the learning and development efforts for new-hire training, professional development, and education programs.

Under the direction of the Training Section Chief (SSM II), the Unit Manager (SSM I) directs the Training and Program Development Unit, which is comprised of 6 analysts (AGPA) and may expand to 8 analysts. This unit is responsible for developing new-hire training material for Disability Insurance Program Representatives (DIPR) in the field offices, audit and compliance trainings for the field offices, updating training modules as the need arises, and any other Disability Insurance program related trainings. In addition to managing the program training of the branch, this Unit Manager is responsible for the everyday planning and functioning of this unit. 

The person selected for this role has a unique opportunity to influence many facets of the training and development of DIB employees, positively impact customer outcomes, and help guide program development at one of the largest and most influential state agencies.

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for telework under EDD's telework policy. California Government Code Section 14200 requires employees to reside in California to telecommute. Employees are required to report to their headquarters office, as needed. Travel expenses to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.

Position exists in downtown Sacramento, near Light Rail.
