Job Description

Main responsibilities for this role will be:

  • Creation of design feasibility studies and design specifications.
  • Support the engineering team on existing and new product designs.
  • Electronic schematic design.
  • Work with hardware engineers on PCB layout and mechanical drawings.
  • Creating and editing BOMs.
  • Editing drawings.
  • Core testing of new software releases prior to release to production.
  • Testing new and existing products meet our published datasheets.
  • Investigating customer issues that come in via the support channel.
  • Evaluation of drawings, BOMs and software prior to release to production.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Creating hardware design test processes and documentation.
  • Providing hardware manufacturing support to contract manufacturers.
  • Interface with external engineering contractors for mechanical design and PCB layout.
  • Help to remotely debug hardware production problems at manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to research and design out obsolete components.
  • Maintaining drawing numbers and part numbers databases.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be an accomplished Electronics Hardware Design Engineer with a minimum of 5 year’s experience within a similar role with the following:

  • Proven track record in electronic product design, with the ability to create innovative electronic designs that add value to existing products or provide a solution to customer problems.
  • Experience in high-speed digital design (microprocessor and FPGA).
  • Experience in RF design techniques.
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of successfully undertaking complex development tasks to a given schedule with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Able to work alone and in teams.
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject (e.g. electronic engineering)

Desired:

  • Professionally qualified (IEng/CEng) or working towards registration.
  • Computer-aided design skills and proficiency using design programs such as OrCAD Capture, OrCAD PCB Editor and AutoCAD mechanical drafting.
  • Experience with EMC and environmental testing.
  • Wireless communication techniques.
  • Satellite communications experience.
