SAP INTEGRATION & ABAP DEVELOPER

POSITION SUMMARY – Responsible for the support and monitoring of IDOCS, SAP Process Orchestration (‘SAP PI/PO’), Cloud Platform Integration(‘CPI-DS’) and Redwood Business Process Automation (‘BPA’). Proactively detect and/or remediate system performance or negative business impact caused by failures. Ensure the smooth and reliable functioning of the SAP business applications and interfaces (SAP PI/PO, CPI-DS, Redwood BPA, etc.). Collaborate with other ‘IT’ support team members as necessary to avoid or address business disruption.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE SAP INTEGRATION & ABAP DEVELOPER:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business users, IT teams, and external partners or vendors as necessary) to gather requirements, align integration strategies, and manage expectations.
  • Create interface, process chains, design documentation, test plans and user guides.
  • Evaluate, model and design SAP PI/PO interfaces to construct and support interfaces based on approved business needs.
  • Configure interfaces to use various SAP PI/PO adapters and route traffic to non-SAP systems, internal and external to the Carpenter Technology.
  • Design, develop, and implement data integration solutions between on-premises SAP S/4HANA and SAP Cloud IBP through SAP HCI using SAP CPI-DS agents.
  • Oversee and manage SAP HCI/CPI-DS, CPI-DS tasks, and process into quality and production environment(s) following strictly defined change management processes.
  • Manage and monitor all scheduled workload and processes for Redwood Business Process Automation (BPA) for successful execution.
  • Lead error detection and resolution efforts for failed processes and/or scheduled batch jobs in Redwood BPA.
  • Build and distribute daily failure report(s) for internal awareness and trend tracking.
  • Responsible to identify and evaluate emerging technologies to implement solutions that enhance capability and drive continuous improvement (examples: automation platforms such as UiPath or low code platforms such as Outsystems).
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE SAP INTEGRATION & ABAP DEVELOPER:

  • Applicant must be ITAR/EAR compliant, United States Citizen or Green Card Holder with English as primary language.
  • Ability to travel within and outside United States for business related requirements.
  • Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution, in a relevant field in Computer Science (programming concepts, software development, and/or database design). SAP certifications in areas such as ABAP programming, SAP HANA, and SAP S/4 HANA required. Master’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and adopt new technologies to drive innovation and efficiency within our organization.
  • 10+ years of experience with:
  • Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and its functions.
  • Hands on experience with PI/PO integration technologies in the following areas: Service Repository and Integration Directory; Data mappings, XSLT mappings, EDI and XML communications, Proxies, interface definitions, and XSDs.
  • Configuration and implementation of PI/PO adapter types (IDoc, RFC, JDBC, File, MAIL, SOAP, WS, JMS, HTTP, REST and Proxy).
  • Experience with configuring Message monitoring, adapter logs, adapter engine status, communication channels etc.
  • Strong working experience in ABAP development (RICEF objects), ABAP Proxies, Rfc, IDocs, ALE configuration, Partner profiles, Ports, Enhancements, error processing, troubleshooting.
  • Experienced in Non-SAP middleware to SAP middleware conversion projects.
  • Experience developing software in SAP NetWeaver Java Stack environments.
  • Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) integrations on SAP CPI-DS along with WebSocket RFC connection knowledge.
  • SAP NetWeaver Gateway and OData services.
  • Understanding of SAP Basis administration tasks.
  • Demonstrated leadership of prior full life-cycle SAP S/4 implementation or enterprise-wide redesign.
  • Exceptional leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement outcomes with enterprise-wide qualitative results.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
