Role Summary 

The Architecture and Technology Lead Manager proactively and holistically leads and supports architecture decisions that guide the development and management of a portfolio of solutions. This role is responsible for the team of sr. specialists and consultants supporting the portfolios and med/large projects. The candidate will have a deep understanding of business goals, objective and business outcomes, business capabilities, value-streams, and business processes. The candidate provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards. This role will create deliverables for managing the organization's portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions to enable and drive targeted business outcomes in the assigned domain. You will lead the team to partner with various business partners, stakeholders and cross-functional IT teams to deliver technical systems solutions and enhance the quality of IT products and services. This role requires the ability to work independently with minimal direction, as well as in cooperation with a variety of customers and other technical professionals. They will provide direct supervision of individuals including mentoring, performance management, and staffing decisions of internal/external resources within the group or service delivery area. Assure strategic and tactical plans are met.   

Translates Business Strategy into Solutions Architecture  

  • Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.  
  • Understands emerging technology trends and disruptions and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.  
  • Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work. 

Leads Solutions Design and Analysis  

  • Leads evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies in an assigned scope area.  
  • Creates architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects and systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information).  
  • Creates reference architectures focused on detailed design principles, decision points and dependencies between business and IT. 
  • Manages and develops the architecture for a broader scope of projects or products, working closely with application architects that manage and design architecture for a single project or product or initiative.  
  • Analyzes the business-IT environment (run, grow and transform the business) to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement (systems of record, differentiation and innovation).  

Orchestrates Solutions Delivery and Ongoing Support/Maintenance 

  • Directs internal or external partner technical development/delivery resources to provide technical solution delivery. 
  • Facilitates the evaluation and selection of software product standards and services, as well as the design of standard and custom software configurations.  
  • Owns the ongoing support and maintenance of the technical solutions through their lifecycle. 
  • Supports product managers in EOL (end of life) product decisions to maintain, refresh or retire products, services or systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information).  
  • Monitors the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements.  

Facilitates and Collaborates to Deliver Business Outcomes  

  • Works closely with the project management office to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the project or product lifecycle.  
  • Works closely with the product owners and product managers to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product lifecycle.  
  • Ensure the solution is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
  • Consults with application and infrastructure development projects and products to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify projects to accommodate the solutions architecture.  

Responsibilities 

  • Engage with developers, architects, designers, hardware engineers, project managers, and management teams. 
  • Provide technical training and consultation to strategical development and support/maintenance partners.  
  • Root cause partner issues and provide resolution to unblock development or improve experience.  
  • Deliver persuasive, passionate, high impact, high quality presentations to key decision makers.  
  • Create actionable steps to achieve big, ambiguous ideas. 
  • Lead team of varied skilled technical resources (2-6) direct reports) in addition to managing matrixed technical resources based in multiple locations or external service providers, providing technical expertise and guidance along with accountability of reviewing and approving design concepts of new or existing products 
  • Collaborates with the product owners and business analysts to shape the end-end product portfolio and define core KPIs/goals within the areas of functional responsibility.  
  • Drives strategic IT projects to positive end results by: aligning goals and timelines with stakeholders, communicating project plans internally, appropriately assigning duties to project team members, establishing project phase milestones, and course-correcting project efforts as needed to achieve deliverables  
  • Manage the overall department budget and forecasts for projects and resources; help to establish budgetary parameters for annual department spend; align department strategy in concert with budgetary standards of the organization  
  • Partners with Business Process Owners to deliver against the aligned roadmap and areas of functional responsibility  
  • Demonstrate extensive business knowledge and deep knowledge of the technical architecture to provide guidance to team members providing application/product support within the area(s) of functional responsibility. 
  • Display proficiency in platform management including configuration, integrations, releases, security, performance, and problem resolution within the area(s) of functional responsibility as per business objectives.  
  • Effectively communicate strategies & trade-offs up to senior leaders and down to product teams  
  • Lead and direct various teams engaged in SaaS (Software as a Service) based projects with best demonstrated practices in application design, testing, security models, IT controls (including Sarbanes Oxley), change control, and system administration.  
  • Identify improvement opportunities and direct teams for design and development of automation solutions to minimize manual tasks across the assigned products 
  • Strong understanding and working experience with Agile approach and culture; Understanding the SAFe (Agile at scale) approach is a plus. 
  • Communicate status, solutions, and concerns. Disseminate information in a timely manner within the team and across functions or teams using structured communication plans.  
  • Oversee administrative tasks, provide guidance on best practices, and ensure team members comply with standard procedures and supporting documentation within the area(s) of functional responsibility.  

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's/Master’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, MIS, engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience 
  • 10+ years’ experience delivering small to large complex projects to solve business problems  
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, solution delivery expertise and a strong understanding of systems for both on-premise and SaaS offerings  
  • Experience working with third-party external teams in the support and implementation of IT solutions  
  • Experience with supporting global platforms, taking proactive action when needed, to ensure stability and avoid outages.  
  • Experience in upgrading and patching platforms to meet business requirements.  
  • Experience with scripting and automation technologies to automate and standardize processes, including but not limited to system upgrades, automated testing, version control and application deployment  
  • Experience mentoring team members to improve technical proficiency in addressing platform related issues.  
  • Experience with people and team management desired.   
  • Experience with Waterfall, Agile and hybrid project management frameworks.  
  • Strong English language skills required; must be comfortable conversing in English  
  • Excellent written/ verbal communications and critical thinking skills necessary  
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.  
  • Energetic and self-motivated team player with proven ability to work in both independent and team environment.  
  • Foundational understanding of the key principles of architecture designs 
  • Experience in a customer-facing role such as technical support, consulting or solutions architecture  
  • Familiarity with information models and industry data standards such as automation and agile architecture 
  • Negotiation skills, long term and strategic thinking without losing the actual needs, teamwork and fast integration into bigger teams. 
  • Experience in some commercial processes highly preferred. 
  • Understanding of regulated Healthcare industry, FDA design controls requirements is an advantage
