Economist Impact’s Policy Research & Insights team is a global team of researchers, analysts, economists and data scientists. We specialise in qualitative research, scenario foresight, population surveys, benchmarking, advanced quantitative analysis and econometric forecasting.

The role of Senior Analyst, Policy & Insights, Health is crucial to the delivery of Economist Impact independent research programmes, ensuring the highest standards of research and editorial quality. Senior Analysts are able to work with qualitative and quantitative research methods and sometimes serve as day-to-day leads on projects and points of contact with our funders and clients. Project work relates in particular to public health, including evidence reviews, surveys, epidemiological modelling, health system benchmarking and health economic analyses.

A successful Senior Analyst is well organised and efficient, has strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and strong written and oral communication skills. The individual also has had exposure to the key stakeholders in health, and knowledge of the latest trends and developments in this space, with a focus on health systems and related dynamics across the Asia-Pacific region. This is a client-facing role on an entrepreneurial, high-growth, global team. You will have a keen interest in global public policy issues, a natural intellectual curiosity and a passion for improving health outcomes.

Accountabilities

How you will contribute

Project execution

  • Design, manage and produce high quality research analysis utilising both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. 
  • Responsible for final results, quality of the project and overall client satisfaction.
  • Effectively manage project team members in project contexts.
  • Write and edit research outputs, including reports, briefing papers, articles and infographics.
  • Present interim and final project deliverables to clients.
  • Research key trends shaping the future of health & wellbeing, from a disease, system and societal lens.
  • Demonstrate interest across key domains related to health (health systems in the APAC region, therapeutic areas such as oncology, social determinants of health, etc.).

Business development

  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients to ensure business is renewed and expanded. 
  • Actively support business development activities through the generation of compelling ideas and proposals, in addition to representing Economist Impact through networking and public speaking opportunities. 

Experience, skills and professional attributes

Desirable skills, experience and qualifications for this role include:

  • Three years or more of research, health system and/or consulting experience; relevant experience in public health or development sector an added advantage 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to translate complex research and analysis into clear and jargon-free prose highlighting key findings and policy analysis
  • Strong data and policy analysis skills with experience working with both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies; background in health-related quantitative analysis (economic models, burden of disease assessments, etc.) a strong plus
  • Familiarity with core public health concepts and drivers of change; expertise in health system dynamics across Asia-Pacific strongly desired
  • Ability to resolve complex and unfamiliar problems in a timely manner
  • Comfortable with client interaction and interest in building relationships
  • Strong interpersonal skills to create easy working relationships with clients, partners and the internal team
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Energy and desire to grow as part of a highly entrepreneurial team
  • A public health, science or healthcare-related degree from a highly regarded university program
