HDR ICA Engineering is looking for a Bridge Inspection Team Leader in Tampa, FL. They will be expected to review and prepare field folders for the scheduled month, assuring that all required data is in the field folder, planning inspection schedules, and coordinating inspections with vendors and/or state representatives. They will also perform on-site inspection to determine deficiencies and investigate symptoms found in in-service bridges by photographing significant and/or required deficiencies, measuring geometrics, verifying quantities, preparing field sketches for structures when plans are not available, write up findings in the field, and if necessary, calling the Professional Engineer and other contacts as directed. Finally, they will also be responsible for final report processing in consultation if needed with the Professional Engineer and Inspection Supervisor to correct, revise, and/or answer questions and ensure readability and understandability of the reports for submittal to FDOT and final input to BW.
5+ years of relevant experience in bridge inspection required with Florida certification number.
Must have passed the 2-week course NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges.
Must possess strong communication, data management and technical writing skills
Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to travel with occasional overnight stays during the week
Must be familiar with AASHTO Manual for Bridge Element Inspection
Must have positive experience interacting with clients and agencies
Must be accustomed to working in a team environment on challenging projects Must be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge design, roadway design, stream restoration, planning, traffic control) within the office, as necessary, during inspection downtime.
This position requires physical ability to perform field inspections of in-service bridge and culvert structures, overhead sign structures and metal traffic signal poles. Physical demands include maneuvering extension ladders and manhandling small boats.
Candidate should expect exposure to environmental hazards, such as, but not limited to, warm and cold temperatures, snakes, spiders, poison oak and poison ivy.
BS in Civil Engineering preferred, but not required.
Local candidates are preferred.
