If you are excited to work alongside a high quality team, while owning a mission critical area, with the opportunity to define strategy, then Item Pipeline's Technical Program Manager role might be right for you.
The Item Pipeline is responsible for a variety of services that form Amazon's master Product Catalog, the heart of the Amazon E-Commerce business. We are primarily responsible for developing the services that process all of the product information from millions of merchants who want to sell through the Amazon family of websites. Our expertise lies in managing billions of products in the catalog and developing large scale distributed systems that process hundreds of millions of changes to the catalog every day in real time. The team offers a unique blend of hard computer science problems and an opportunity to help the businesses model their new ideas.
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to work closely with business owners to drive product and technical direction for the platform. In this role, you will exercise your leadership skills as you work with customers and senior management to understand the business direction and represent their needs to the development teams. With your strategic vision, you will build the roadmap, taking disparate requests from customers and synthesizing them into features that impact Amazon's billions of customers. You will demonstrate your technical skills by influencing the team's technical direction through communication, collaboration and commitment to a high quality bar. Additionally, you will assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make trade-offs and balance the business needs versus technical constraints to achieve business goals.
Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem solving and program management skills. You should not only be passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions, but should also be obsessed with contributing to the development of high-performance teams through rigorous goal-setting, disciplined attention to performance metrics, continuous process improvement and mentoring.
