Intermediate Business Analyst - Enterprise Supplier Governance

The Enterprise Supplier Governance (ESG) Team has a mandate to proactively identify, assess, monitor and mitigate risk associated with our third party suppliers and outsourcers through defined governance practices.  The team is a second line of defense function that drives the identification and management of supplier risks across the Enterprise through effective challenge to the first line of defense supplier managers across the LOBs.


The ESG Team leads LOBs in the engagement and management of suppliers as well as in their identification and management of supplier risks. They leverage the enterprise operational risk management framework through the outsourcing and supplier risk management lifecycle framework which includes ongoing, independent (second line of defence) activities for monitoring and reporting on outsourcing and supplier risks at all stages of a supplier relationship throughout the enterprise. These outcomes drive shareholder value, continuous improvement to the customer experience, and risk mitigation.   


An integral member of the ESG team, the Analyst is accountable with the set-up, maintenance of information and support associated with development, implementation and management of supplier governance strategy, framework, policies, standards, guidelines and tools that enable compliant governance and management of BMO Financial Group’s key suppliers and outsourcers globally.

Business Delivery and Operational Excellence

·        Performs in-depth analyses on production problems, identifies root causes, and recommends solutions to resolve application malfunctions and prevent recurrence

·        Completes project deliverables (e.g., assists in the building of project check lists) in order to contribute to project implementations

·        Assumes the role of Lead Support Analyst in major projects and initiatives, interacting and collaborating with team members and other departments, as appropriate, in order to gain knowledge relevant to application support (such as understanding new functionalities, what parts of the system is being changed, and required environmental changes) to ensure successful implementation of the environment changes

·        Identifies sources of requirements, possible interfaces, and affected Lines of Business based on high-level process description or scenarios in order to understand stakeholder needs

·        Builds, sustains, and leverages relationships with individuals within his/her area of immediate responsibility when gathering, validating, and approving requirements to establish a comfort level in managing relationships and understanding business needs and assurance that a quality result will be delivered

·        Identifies inconsistencies and gaps within a business process description and collaborates with stakeholders to clarify and simplify complex processes

·        Creates a requirements management plan according to the recommended practices of the organization so that activities and milestones of the requirements management team can be measured against the goals of that plan

·        Adheres to and ensures that others adhere to the organization’s Requirements Management Process to support the organizational standards and ensure consistency of deliverables

·        Provides clarification of requirements to other project team members to assist them in the creation of their specific project deliverables (e.g., assists the testing team in the creation of the Testing Strategy and Testing Execution Plan)

·        Verifies the appearance of the testing output to ensure it meets the requirements of the business


Relationship Management

·        Builds, sustains, and leverages relationships with individuals within his/her area of immediate responsibility when gathering, validating, and approving requirements to establish a comfort level in managing relationships and understanding business needs and assurance that a quality result will be delivered

·        Interactions with external business partners and stakeholder.

·        Preferred University Degree in a business-related field and or relevant 1-4 years business experience

·        Good  Analytical aptitude

·        Understanding of  bank products and services

·        Good knowledge of MS products e.g. Excel, Word, Power Point, and Access

·        Good technical knowledge re: database management, data mining, reporting tools



·        Good analytical and quantitative skills

·        Strong attention to detail in large data sets

·        Good relationship management skills

·        Good organization skills

·        Detail oriented and strong commitment to data accuracy and integrity

·        Collaborative, tact, team oriented

·        Works well independently

·        Conceptual and strategic thinking

·        Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills (oral and written)

·        Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision

·        Self-motivated team player and willingness to assist at all times
