Agile Senior Test Analyst

Your place in the team 

The Senior Test Analyst will represent functional testing and business quality expectations in key projects and programs. Senior Analyst will coordinate project tests under a given program and will be responsible to select a testing method that gives required coverage and prepare test plans and resource estimations accordingly. This role will own UAT entry and exit criteria and will be responsible to achieve them as per project schedule. 

Beyond test analyst works this role is responsible to transform found issues into business risks. During triage meetings this role is responsible to represent detailed knowledge about every issues in every IT processes and protect business interest while requesting and scheduling fixes with developers. 

This role is responsible to ensure smooth test execution by defect prioritization and classification. 

You will be involved in the following tasks 

Test Planning

  • Prepare and maintain test roadmap
  • Plan defect fixing and deployment windows
  • Prepare UAT test plan and align it with the test strategy
  • Determine scope and out of scope items and validate them with IT and business areas
  • Establish communication channels with all the peer areas (IT, development, OPS and business)
  • Prepare resource estimations
  • Arrange UAT plans with peer test managers, stream and program managers

Test Design

  • Determine which test techniques must be used and what should be content
  • Optimize test suits and overview full test calendar 
  • Understand new product development items’ functionality
  • Understand system capabilities and high level design of functions
  • Collection information about every available documents, information which can be used as a test basis 
  • Cooperate with IT to understand design specifications.
  • Cooperate with business parties to validate testable functions, requirements
  • Gather functional requirements and create high level test calendar according to the planned functionalities 
  • Design end to end test calendars according to business requirements and system capabilities
  • Prepare sanity instances and regression test suite
  • Set up test execution test plan and sequence if required
  • Administer test cases, instances in test management tool and link them to relevant business requirements
  • Prepare test data and test data request to aim test execution
  • Administer test cases, instances in test management tool and link them to relevant business requirements
  • Have high level test calendar approved by all relevant business and IT parties
  • Present new project capabilities and completed test calendar to peer test analyst and to delegated test experts
  • Support test manager by providing test resource estimation
  • Insert new functions delivered by CRs into test calendar in later phases of test process 

Test Execution

  • Act as super user during UAT execution and help test analysts, expert with knowledge sharing 
  • Confirmation that the system under test is compliant with all the gathered business requirements 
  • Execute business tests (sanity, UAT, live test and in special cases FUT) according to test calendar if required
  • Coordinate test expert during test execution and help smooth test execution
  • Administer every discrepancies from expected results and the results of test instances in test management tool
  • Maintain and update test cases in test management tool
  • Investigate side effects of defect fixes and execute holistic change related test (retest and regression) with proper administration in test management tool

Defect management

  • Own defect triage meeting and represent, protect business needs, requests
  • Gain a holistic understanding over every found defects regardless to the reporter units (IT, testing or business)
  • Overview every defect by developers during triage meeting and set a fixing schedule that will support smooth test execution
  • Work closely with defect and release management and ensure clear communication lines about found issues and fixing
  • Track fixing schedule and ensure that developers deliver with quality in time
  • Support go - no go by grouping issues into Go Live Critical (CLC) and not GLC groups
  • Track defect administration and correct it wherever it is required

Reporting

  • Support daily test status preparation by providing information about project’s test status and highlighting key issues
  • Participate project status meeting and circulate testing status in details if required
  • Support defect manager and/or defect triage lead by providing information about defects and emphasize their side effects if there is any 
  • Provide information for go / no go decision slide preparation 

Agile test coordination

  • Support sprint planning and act as SPOC to product owners
  • Ensure that testing is represented in agile squads
  • Responsible to track available testing capacity during sprint planning
  • Coordinate test experts allocated to a given sprint
  • Manage test knowledge transfers over sprints

We are looking for you if you have 

  • Completed IT BSC/MSC degree
  • ISTQB CTAL (Certified Test Analyst) certification
  • ISTQB CTFL Agile Extension certification
  • ISTQB CTFL (Certified Tester Foundation Level) certification
  • 10+ years of experience in test design and planning in a multinational company
  • 10+ year experience in SOAP UI and SQL
  • 8+ years of experience with JIRA and/or HP lifecycle application management systems
  • 8+ years of experience in coordination of test experts
  • 4+ years of experience in building agile testing squads 
  • 4+ years of experience in Agile delivery as part of squads
  • Fluent English and Native Hungarian
