Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an immediate need for a Network Engineer OR Principal Network Engineer to add to our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be supporting our Avionics Integration organization and can be based in either Oklahoma City, OK or Rancho Bernardo, CA.

Travel up to 50% may be required.

Essential Functions:

  • Air Vehicle Network design to include design, configuration, testing, and diagnostics.
  • Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams, and specifications
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to design a network to enable mission objectives.
  • Work closely with other Engineers and Technicians to install and configure network equipment in development and lab environments.
  • Understand and incorporate cyber controls to accredit and operate at required classification levels.
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network technologies

This position can be filled at either the Network Engineer OR Principal Network Engineer level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for Network Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with 2 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying, configuring, hardening, and diagnosing networks on military platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring network devices to include switches, routers, firewalls, and encryption devices.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS
  • Working knowledge of routing & switching concepts and protocols to include DNS, DHCP, GRE, IPSEC, QOS, VLANs, BGP, OSPF and/or EIGRP
  • Current expertise with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.
  • Experience with firewall configuration and ruleset development
  • Understanding of and application of DISA STIGs or equivalent guidance for classified systems
  • Experience configuring and using cryptographic devices such as HAIPEs
  • Experience with networking over line of sight and beyond line-of-sight data links
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs and must be obtained prior to commencement of employment.

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with 5 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying, configuring, hardening, and diagnosing networks on military platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring network devices to include switches, routers, firewalls, and encryption devices.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

  • Experience accrediting classified computer networks
  • Ability to use version control tools such as SVN or GIT
  • Experience with automated configuration deployment such as Ansible
  • Ability to use scripting/programming languages such as Python
  • Experience with ISE, IDS and IPS technologies
  • A professional certification specific to the networking industry like a CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.
  • DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent
  • Experience with military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
  • Experience with tactical/military radios

Salary Range: $71,400.00 - $130,800.00Salary Range 2: $87,800.00 - $160,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
