Caterpillar is seeking an experienced compliance attorney to provide legal compliance support to Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD). IPSD includes the Perkins engines brand and it has operations in the US, UK, Brazil, China, India and Singapore. The position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced compliance attorney who seeks a challenging and rewarding role in a diverse, global organization with consistent financial performance and historical significance. What You Will Do:

  • Support will include international trade compliance, antibribery, fair competition, and data privacy, as well as other legal compliance risk areas.
  • This position serves as primary support for the IPSD Division Compliance Manager and the IPSD Compliance team and supports the development and maintenance of effective compliance processes.
  • The position requires significant collaboration and interaction with other legal professionals, including compliance subject matter experts, as well as senior executive and management leadership at Caterpillar.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrated record of analyzing and interpreting the substance of complex regulations (e.g., export control regulations) to effectively counsel business teams and support and enable operational processes.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Effective in managing complexity and dealing with ambiguity to arrive at pragmatic solutions
  • Legal Analysis: Intellectual curiosity and interest in learning the business and further developing business acumen

Degree and Experience Required:

  • J.D. required
  • Licensed to practice law in Texas, or licensed in another U.S. state and able to become licensed in Texas
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible job-related experience

Top Candidate Will Also Have:

  • Experience in a large law firm or multi-national corporate law department, with a focus on international trade and compliance
  • Effective interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Effective in managing complexity and dealing with ambiguity to arrive at pragmatic solutions
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in learning the business and further developing business acumen

Additional Details:

  • This position can be located in Schertz, TX, Irving, TX, or Peoria, IL
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for those who qualify
  • International and Domestic travel up to 15%
  • Sponsorship is NOT available
